Women do not at all understand how us men could spend so much on "toys." The data just does not compute to them.

Have some pity on me... My wife is an accountant.

I'm Lucky
My wife bought both my heli's for me, a Blade CP and a HoneyBee CP2. She also regularly goes to the hobby shop with me and makes sure I have the spares I need. While she won't take the sticks, she does enjoy watching my flying and offers great constructive comments. I mean, a wife and flying/hobbyshop buddy all rolled into one? Life is good!

We also fish together and she is a NASCAR/Indycar fanatic. This year we'll make it to Pocono for NASCAR and Indy for the 500. Yehaa!

How bout the truth? Seems to work for me. 19 heli's, a 49 chevy, a race car and a project 50 merc for the wife/family hot rod.... and a bunch of other RC toys, she could care less about how many or how much, and knows exactly how much cause I tell her. As a matter of fact she buys more crap for me, and until we had our son flew a bit as well...

Rotor,

I know this might come as a surprise but everyone isn't the same.

Being single, my opinion doesn't carry much weight on this issue but every time I see another thread on this topic, I am more convinced that marriage has nothing to offer to a guy. Women are just needy and insecure so it makes sense why they want to hitch up and then use sex as their "WMD". IMO, that is total bull and I really don't know why so many dudes don't grow some balls and tell their wives to take a hike.

I agree some are, and some are cool as heck (did I mention my wife hates to shop as much as I do and doesnt like diamonds either? Oh and there are times where I fend HER off, it usually goes something like this, "common honey I need to work on the car/truck/heli for the car show/race/flying field tomorrow"

quite simply my wife rocks! if there were more like her there would be no wars, all males would have heli's/toys out the waazoo and sex when needed.

How bout you rotor... As I read on, sounds like you have GMCULLAN beat. Are you taking trades? lol

Im just kidding guys, my wife is awsome too but she does like diamonds and I cannot get my first rappy30 off the ground until I either get my AT6 Texan flying that ive had for about 3 months (engine tuning problems) or I get her diamond earings. All im waiting on is the GY401

I just dont understand diamonds. I mean all they do is sit there. And my wife has long hair and so ya prolly wouldnt even see them anyway! They dont make noise/smoke or hover. What are they good for?

Oh man, I can't believe this thread started up as I just got in trouble today! My wife knew I was buying a Heli again but this time I thought I would take a different route; I decided I just wouldn't talk to much about it, just buy the stuff I needed and not bother her with the details. I wasn't trying to hide anything from her, it's just in the past I have blabbed to her about what ever it was I was going to buy until she got sick and tired of hearing about it, so I thought this time I would just not say much and go ahead with my plan. Seemed to be working pretty good til today she saw how much this darn .90 class bird was costing me!! one Evo Freya, one JR 9303, carbon blades, tools, co-pilot,accessories, etc)and I haven't even bought the engine or gyro yet!!). Let us just say that the brown stuff collided with the spinning blades rapidly. I managed to live thru it and she's fine now so all's well but I did feel pretty bad about it all. I have no complaints though, my wife is bad azz. After 18 yrs she's still my best friend, will go to the field, fishing, shooting or whatever. Just a damn good woman. No regrets here. Oh well, just thought this thread was kind of funny seeing as how what happened to me today. I've been wondering how some of you guys manage this hobby, maybe I'll get some ideas from this thread!

Thank God she only asked that question once a week.

I feel for you Sub... that is quite haul right there.

It's like when do you tell them (if you even tell them at all) especially if it's a new heli... before you buy "Oh honey, I just gotta get a new .90 size Raptor, it's on sale...." or do you just get it and say "Oh honey, do you like my new .90 Raptor, I got on sale...". I know she says "I don't care" one day and then turns around and says "Is that a new one?" (Oh man, there it goes... and the butterflies in your stomach starts to go wild).

I guess my wife did say that her only issue is that I'm the only one who's enjoying it. But you know, it's not like she surfs porn sites with me...lol. I guess I could've picked up a couple of plasma TV's instead, but looking through the manual, I couldn't find where I can stick the starter wand.

I can tell you one thing, the more you spend the less you can bitch about it when she spends.

Also, there are a lot worse habits then playing around with toy heli's. Perhaps you know of an example, someone you know spends a lot more money on something a lot worse then you, make sure you point that out. It will work as long as your list of bad habits is short

I've been married to the same woman for 33 years now and I have found only one way to handle the newly arriving heli... It is much easier to ask for forgivness than to ask for permission to buy it. Then just explain about the great deal you got, show here the list price for a new one.
A woman can't pass up a good deal when it comes to shopping.....and now you have something in common!!!

Simple solution: Stay single. Spend freely. Don't worry. Be happy.

Girlfriends have no say in the matter. Not allowed at the airpark, either.

i sold all but one and said that i would not get a new heli until i paid some bills off . well i did get a new one . but it took 3 months . and i did not tell her about it . so the other day she came into my computer room and said what are you working on now ? is that a new heli . i said well yes it is . remember i said i was getting anew one . this one cost a lot less to fix than the freya 91 that is down stairs . i could get 2 for what it cost to fix the freya . she left the room and has not said anything. then on sunday i was working on it and we were talking and i broke a paddle . she said she would buy a new one for it . how much does it cost . . when i first got backinto heli she used to buy some of the parts for me but that has stopped . as long as i do what every i need to get done around the house . the weekend is mine for flying at the club .

best to have your own checking acc. that way she doesn't know how much it cost also . she also knows that i sell old stuff that i don't need for anything to get new stuff and the money has already been spent it just get's me new stuff . got to love ebay and rr for saleing.

How much am I worth? About 1/6 what of the wife. I was a senior engineer at a multi-national company, but after 33 years that jpb went off-shore about three years ago. So I'm sort of "retired". Does she have a sister? Yes, but the sister is the ugly evil one.

Just got back from the car dealer ship. The wife just replaced my '98 Grand Prix with a left-over '05. Sometimes life just "sucks"! LOL Oh, and my orders from Horizon and Balsa Products came in today.

Yes, this relationship is going to cost me dearly, for it will destroy my heart and soul if I should lose her before I go. Truly, I have a rare thing here, and I thank the heavens for every second of every day.
