I just picked up an unassembled Ark X400 instead of rebuilding a Hornet CP. I've been putting the Ark together on the sly and have the Hornet right in front coz tools and Ark parts/components are on the table (dining room). Sorta been waiting for the right moment to pop it to her... "It's the same heli honey." or "I changed the broken parts" or "The new one costs as much as fixing the old one"

WTT: Wife excuses... new or used.

I've always found that this is a dangerous path to take on the road to heli nirvana. My wife always finds out....then she is more pissed than if I would have told her to start with. Then again, she doesn't really complain about me spending money on this hobby.....as long as we have the money for me to spend. Sorry that wasn't a trade...

Yes, it is not the path to go, but I'm right smack in the middle of it. Gyros, servos, batts, blings and even Tx are not too bad, but a whole heli.... man.... I guess the truth will hurt....

"50 bucks to fix the old and I bought a new one for 30 bucks more instead... it's a better deal hun".... I could just see it now. I guess it's not the cost, but more on the principle.

My wife told me; "I just don't want to know how much it cost". How excellent is that?!? Sometimes I don't even want to know...

My wife says that too....until she checks the bank balance and then she asks......How much were those parts you ordered?.....Loaded question. Then she says "well, I was wanting a new purse anyway"....that means that I set her spending limit with "my" purchase.

That's what she says now, but it's been catalogued and stored in permanent memory for later retrieval (for a more "convenient" time). Who said elephants are the only ones that can remember EVERYTHING?!?!?

Maybe you could get her something extra special for Valentines Day. I know how about a heli so you can spend time together. LOL

Oh I fully realize that I am digging myself into a hole. Fortunately I'm in a position where I/we can afford to have some fun hobbies/interests. More than anything it results in some interesting banter back and forth. She just doesn't understand cool mechanical flying things and I have ABSOLUTELY no idea why anyone would need 20 different pairs of black shoes.

I guess the last time I won an argument was the day before I got my first heli.

He he, just because you got your first heli doesn't mean you won the argument. Argument was simply delayed for a later date ...

My wife doesn't care with what I spend as I don't start asking her for money

Hmmm on the other hand since I started this hobby the "take out for dinner" rate has significantly increased... I wonder why?

Oh and another thing is that I lost my usual "I can't afford this" excuse... if I try that stunt now she gives me the "heli look" and there I go buying stuff....

I love her

Tony

LOL.... yup. She does keep coming back to me on that...

Sidenote: I was at the local hobbyshop yesterday and a guy was buying a Hirobo XRB. He said that he's a retired Heli mechanic for the Airforce and he thought it might be fun to get int o rc helis. The week before he bought a Bladerunner and didn't like it.

After the sale, the next thing he asked for..."Do you have a book of excuses for my wife"...lol... dejavu

ive learned the secret is to not let your wife see all your helis at once!! it also helps if you dont fly with canopys very often as they all tend to look the same to the untrained eye without canopy!!

my wife came down to my hobby room the other night to hang out with me while i worked on some stuff and she said, "how many helicoptors do you have anyway?"

i honestly think she thought all the stuff i was flying was the same one!! which is hard to believe since i have a raptor 50, Trex, electric shuttle, and an xcell gassser!!

to be honest my wife is really cool and doenst really care what i buy!!

favorite quote, no honey thats the same helicoptor i have always had

Well this is so common its not even funny. Why do we all go through this? We want to do something fun and they say no. They want to go shopping and we can't say no. Unless we are content with no sex for whoever knows how long. I have desided that it just don't matter anymore. If I want to do it as long as it doesn't cost her anything I do it. She bought me my first Heli for christmas and sense then I have bought 3 for myself. I got a great deal on all of them catching people getting out of the hobby or just to frustrated to continue in the hobby. So the money I have spent is very little compearativly speaking.

But back to your question, just tell her and deal with the result the best way you can. If you didn't beleive that you could handle it you would have steared completely away from it anyway.

I always get this excuse from mine, "but it was on sale" do you think that would work on her?
