G'day people, about to start building a Milli 3 Pro Kit, they are not real common here in Australia (I won mine in a raffle at the Smackdown funfly, thanks to Stephen at Cyber Heli for the donation to support the raffle, he also donated a Futaba 14 Mz radio plus a another high end heli kit to the event)
Anyway, looking for tips to build the machine right.
I intend to use my YS91 engine, CY muscle pipe, Futuaba 9252 servo's and 401 gyro.

Any advice on building, settings etc?

Thanks in advance

Steve

Hi,

The YS engine is not a good choice.
When you put the 15t pion you will have a gear ratio from 1to8 and that is a little to low for the YS.
Than you must run 1950 rpm on the head. For a 90er to hight
When used the 14t pion you will have 8.57 and that gives 1730 a 1760 rpm. more is better

For the OS,the 15t pion is the best choice.

Flying 1830 to 1870 rpm on the head and the engine 14500 to 14800.

I run a YS 91 in my milli-3 and it loves 1850 h/s. I've had it for almost 2 years. I use the 9252's and the mp-2. I have used 720 Funkey blades since the begining. I changed to a Nova canopy after it's first crash. That was after 18 months without one. I love this heli . I did change the washout to one from QuickUK. I tried the 16 tooth and the 14 that it comes with. The 15 tooth piece is the best choice so far. The head parts make enough better feel that I have made the mods to my Nova as well. I have the center brg. for the feathering shaft in my SE's too. The mixing arms are a good upgrade for all Robbes. My Nova is like a milli 3 now. I have converted it to ccpm and the longer boom. Enjoy it for a long time. TimT

My Mille's are all 8:1 on a YS, I run the head at 1900-1950 and the heli could not be happier. But then again I fly 3d and like a high head speed and the response that comes with it.

the YS is not a good choice? i run mine with a YS and it has tons of power HS of 1850. chen zarfati won the 3d experts with a YS engine and 15T pinion. if you want some building tips, here's one: you don't need them just follow the manual exactly and you'll be fine.

good luck and welcome aboard

What blades are you flying 69 / 70 or 71 cm ???

I was flying the 71 and I found that the OS gives me more power.

710 old style V-blades with flash tips, 105 V-tails, 80mm V-paddles or Mah collet style paddle. I have not tried an OS engine. I have been flying Robbe helis for 5 years and I have never owned a OS. I did not know anyone but YS made helicopter engines. lol,lol If it gets good reviews,I think I will give the new OS with the pump a try when it comes out. But I am not going to spend 600.00 to get a modifyed OS to run right, I will wait unitl OS gets it right out of the box like YS did.

What about the tail rotor pitch plate issue?
Are current M3 owners still moving the pitch arm on the tail rotor grips from the leading side to the trailing side? It was necessary on the first batch of M3 kits to obtain equal throw because Robbe didn't redesign the pitch bridge and links even though the tail rotor was changed from the left side to the right of the model.

I'm using YS91/MP2/15 tooth pinion in a Milli II with great results!

I might have to bump up the head speed though...I'm using 1750 right now.

The RCMarket mixing arms definitely work!
