Has anyone tried BOTH of these "true" running gears? I have the MH and for the most part it is good - it is round but the NSK bearing can be caused to stay in "grab" position by rapid torque changes as in changes to idle up - when it stays in "grab" there is no free wheeling and no ability to auto. There is noise increase over the stock gear. There is no wobble and that sure helps power transfer smoothly from the motor.

How is the Align "Blue" gear working out for those who have used it?

I'm not sure if the Align blue main gear is supposed to be "true". It's supposed to be stronger though.

Align does not claim their gear is true, just stronger, so if you want a true gear, stick with MH

But Honey, I can't live with just stock.....

Its a shame the MH gear is louder, along with some off the problems some people have had with the NSK oneway bearing. Even though the Align gear is not very round it seems to get the job done without problems.

Good point, I guess many people have become accustomed to the wobbly Align gears that a gear that spins true seems like a traditional upgrade.

Is the MH gear supposed to be stronger? For 4S setups?

And the people that had problems with the one way bearing... have you all been lubing them? And with what lube?

I have tried lubes from RC car axle oil to white lithium. to graphite to tri flow - none stopped the "grab" but as a technician told me the bearing "loosened up" after approx. 30 minutes run time and has been fine ever since - the gear runs smoothly and the noise has lessened . The true running is such a benefit to good engine power and the whole heli is smooth.

I stripped the white main gear on my SE. I bought another white, blue, and the MH gear. I installed the MH gear and am staying with it. I have had over 1 hour of flight time on it and have no problems...though I am only a beginner-intermediate flyer. It is true, which is a nice change. When I compare it to the other gears they look/feel cheap. The MH gear is worth the money.
