After re-fitting my boom and and re-connecting the belt I had a major pirouette problem.
On the ground I could power up and the tail would hold possibly because of the skids, as soon as I dialled in the power to lift off the tail would pirouette and I could not hold it.
It was OK before I fiddled with the tail boom.
I suspect that I had an extra twist in the belt, is this possible?
Surely the whole tail system would have been noisy or vibrated etc.
I am madly looking for other causes but after refitting I think it is OK, testing on the lounge floor last night.

Cheers
Tony

yes you can get the tail to turn backwards if the belt is twisted the wrong way. i had this happen before. turn the blades clockwise and see if the tail is turning counterclockwise. that is the right way. when you put the belt in you turn the belt 90 degrees counterclockwise. hope this helps. pm me if you need any more help

Trex 450XL see gallery, and I am now convinced I twisted the belt.
I seem to remember in my over tired stated that I saw the tail blades going in reverse so I assumed I had put them on backwards and FIXED them . It's really wierd it still sort of worked on the ground.
Anyway have changed them all back the right way and it is working again.
My diagnostic skills are improving with every mistake :-)

Cheers

If you hold the tail end up against a light you should be able to see the belt clearly when you look down the other end.

Another trick I use when I have the tail boom out is to put a little travel padlock on the belt at the front end to stop the belt twisting on the bench. Since the padlock is heavy the belt doesn't accidentially untwist or twist in the other direction.

Just remember the leading blade should always move up and into the rotor wash.

So looking from the right side of the heli the tail should spin counter clock wise.
