How critical is the CG, I flew it yesterday and seemed to be fine, it is tail heavy cause I am using a BEC, no RX pack, I don't want to use a RX pack, I want it to be as light as possible. Is there any adverse effects to flying it tail heavy??

Thanks

You might find the behavior in loops & rolls a little odd. I ended up fitting a 4 AA cell receiver pack to mine to get it to balance okay, it's very difficult with just a seperate BEC.

Will two of my freinds ended up putting 6aa cells up front of the shelf to make it balance properly.

Main battery
Can you cut the underside of the canopy and slide the main pack up any more ?

Maybe I m not sure, it already goes under the canopy, I will check to see if it can go ahead anymore.

Just checked, its a far forward as possible, unless I totally hack up the canopy, I would have to cut off the air vent at the bottom.

Without a separate receiver pack you won't get it to balance. I have my lipo as far forward as possible without trimming off the entire "wind scoop" on the canopy. It is barely balanced with a receiver pack. The only other way I know of is to move your electronics to the battery tray and put the lipo on top. Depending on the lipo it may or may not fit. I think my 5s lipos would just barely fit it I tried it.

I'm using 4S lipo packs and found that the pack fitted nicely between the radio tray and the top of the carbon battery tray, similar sort of position to the Trex, Zoom etc. It balanced setup like this but I had one small crash & decided that the lipo was a bit too vulnerable in this position so put up with the extra weight of the nimh receiver pack. Any larger lipo wouldn't fit.

My 4S pack already mounts right at the front of the battery tray.

Ok, thanks guys, so what your saying is I m screwed for balance unless I run a RX pack.

Thanks, I guess I will have to do that.

balance
You may consider doing that I did with my Eco8 when switching to lipos. I added some lead weight to the inside front of the canopy. I was able to make it removeable with velcro. With the weight really far forward it took suprisingly little to balance. I would rather add weight and use a seperate BEC than worrying about recharging another pack. Just a thought.

I'm using a 6s and had to cut 1-1/2 of canopy botton for proper CG.

However, I also use a 4cell 1100mA nic for electronics under tray, Rx over tray, ESC on right side by motor and gyro is aft over boom.
