Is it safe to use a 2-cell 1200 Lipo battery with a Stock 10 geared motor on a Blade CP heli. I have heat sinks on both motors. I know that one can use this battery with the 11 geared motor. I don't want to burn out or shorten the motor life using this battery.

I don't know that you'll get enough head speed on a 2 cell to fly it very well with the stock motor. I heard that the 11 tooth motor is for 2 cell to increase the head speed, but I'm guessing it'll still fly better stock with the 8 cell nimh pack.

I've carefully been flying my CP with the 10 tooth motor on a 1320 TP 3 cell pack, but will be changing to the 8 tooth tonight. She really rips with the carbon blades and the 3 cell, but I know I'm pushing the envelope with the 10 tooth pinion.

Hi Johnnyshore,

Thank you for your reply. I talked to Horrizon today. They told me the stock motor and 2-cell 1200 as you stated would not have enough spool rpms to get off the ground. I installed the 2-cell Lipo 1200 and was only able to hover 3-4 inches above ground. I have a 900 3- cell coming in Sat. along with the 8 geared motor, this should get me in the air without a problem. They claim in the manual that the 11 geared motor along with the 2 cell LiPo will run this heli,(I don't think so). One more tooth is not going to make that much difference. This is definitely a 3 cell LiPo heli.

I am using a 9 tooth ,3 cell 1320 Thunderpower 11v with symmetrical plades and she flys sweet! Even with the new landing gear setup.

It only takes two things to fly -- airspeed and money
