I am thinking of a Bergen myself after watching the Dakine build over the last few days and then the flight video that Chris sent me.

Ron,
If you go this direction, you won't be disappointed at all. Hopefully, if the UPS Gods smile on me, both the Bergen and the BK will be in/back in the air this weekend or sooner and, on the other subject, will keep looking and keep you posted.
Doc

P.S. Chris, UPS Gods not required for Bergen....I crapped a fuel pump on the BK this weekend. Starwood God (Uncle Al) has already been good....now, waiting on, actually, the USPS Gods.

Neither of you will be disappointed getting a Bergen turbine .. I love mine and wouldn't trade it for ,,,,even a V-22 that worked

Besides the fact it flys like it is on rails ,, flys like an old friend (the gasser or EB) and uses a wren turbine that has been around for ever ,,the support you get from Bergen is next to none. I live close to the shop and am over there alot and I have spent some time at the Bergen home ,,,they live ,eat ,sleep helicopters .I have seen them take phone calls at home after a hard day at the shop ...and help one of us poor lost souls out with a problem.Chris even sets up his laptop in front of the T.V. so that he can answer questions on the forums and still get some of his favorite programs.
You just can't go wrong with a company that is this dedicated to the hobby.
Just a teaser ,,there are a few new neat things in the works ,,but I won't take away from Chris's thunder.

If you want something decent get a Cuatro!!! The added bonus is that they look as cool as they perform. The rest look like they fell out of the fugly tree and hit every branch on the way down.

Well i have a predator (had a predator...1275mini should be receiving it today!!)and now have a cuatro (not built it yet!)Both using the wren engine. I guess you want to decide what turbine to get first, then get the heli to suit.

Hey,

Century/WREN Predator all the way!

Whatever airframe you choose you won't be disappointed with a WREN turbine & gearbox to suit. The quality & service is second to none!

There was a second hand Predator turbine & JR10X for sale in the latest model helicopter world mag. But at the price I am sure it's gone by now.

Barry, I like your style! More play we need!!!

Hey Steve,

It's good to see back in the forum again my friend and getting stuck in with the talk amoungst us buddys. Welcome back

I must admit those photo's were taken when it was indeed slightly hotter in the UK, when it was supposed to be summer.
Model is flying very well indeed, I have now fitted the longer boom & NHP 800mm blades and hence enjoying the benefit they bring.
After various conversations with yourself about wanting to do it in the early stages and then the Bergen Team about blade choice, I got left behind in making the change. But alas finally I am in the big blade department and loving it.
The model feels so much more solid in the air and less worrying if an air bubble should strike. I'm still trying to master inverted tail-in funnels with it, on my Swift / 90's I can nail them but the extra weight of the turbine is catching me out still. I'll get it though with time & practice.

The red canopy looks great on the model, it also resides on my 90 as well. Although dont tell Mark Tilbury as he gave it me specifically for the turbine hehehe
Originally we talked of getting a professionally sprayed canopy with a picture of the turbine blasted onto it in the same position as it is behind the canopy. But as we already have ready painted canopys available off the shelf that just happen to look great, we stuck with original items.

I think I have finally worn my clutch out though, come the end of a flight I feel it's slipping a little. Noticable with a lower rotor speed in the last few minutes of fuel and hence a nod induced by the head damping.
Mind you it has done 2+ years of hard flying now and I have been adding more & more power to it and demand though flying harder and so has done well. A change is planned before the season starts.

Hey Gary,

Can't wait to fly with you guys, when you coming over to the UK for a weekends flying? Any plans made with Sara & the gang maybe?
Then I can see if that scary looking canopy fits my Predator
