Dear All

Today Sunday Feb.5th Steve at Dreamhobbies closed down his Shop!!! This is a Sad Day for many Chopper Flyers.
He will surely be missed by all.
I know that many of you have had steve set up your Helos and I believe that this will leave a big hole in the model industry.
Steve is such a great guy and gave lots of you great deals, so we now must wish him great sucess in his other businesses.

You 've Got to be Kidding
I was just in last week and bought Steve's personal T-rex. I did this with the expectation that DreamHobbies/ Steve would be there to support the Heli.

Is this for real? I know his business was up for sale, but I was just in on Thursday and no mention was made.

wow, this sucks.... I knew that Steve was selling the business, I didn't know he was going to close it down all together. Dreamhobbies was my main source for Trex parts... this is going to be very inconvenient now that I have to drive to far places when this was just down the street. =(

Sorry to hear that Nick, Frank and Jack are now out of a job. I don't know how lucrative a hobby shop is, but with the ever growing interest in helis and electic fly, it may be a good investment. However, I would move it to a better location in Orange County.

He probably got fed up with people mailordering/internet shopping Helicopters, Planes, Cars and Trucks, and then bringing them to him for help.

IT IS A TOUGH BUSINESS, WITH LITTLE PROFIT!

Thanks: Terry

Yeah...unfortunately its over for jack, frank and myself. a real boner killer that there was really no warning that at 5pm on sunday steve showed up to tell us that well... i dunno what you would call it..fired or laid off but that dream is now closed to the public and he's done with the business except for about 4 months still is going to continue to do internet stuff till everything is gone. oh by the way Leo how does steves t-rex fly now that i set it up on your 8U? IF any one still needs heli repairs im still available but I think the In-n-out accross the street from me looks like a good job haha. Oh well steve did what he had to do.

Folks...Please have your MasterCard out after every flight!

Finless
We don't know why steve did not sell, but I tried to make it easy for him, I made myself available anytime he needed me, I even offered to do everything that he was doing (Internet,Orders, Restocking ETC.) but he lost interest, he feels he will make more money selling it off on the internet then the offers that he got. So I do not think that he is willing to sell it now, besides how much money do you think Frank, Nick and I have, after all we were working in a hobby store. He also made it seem that he was not making money at the store.

First of all , I have to say ..
I firmly believe there is still a very good market for an actual " bricks and Mortar" e- Heli shop.
Just look at the OCHC fly-ins..they are getting bigger and bigger. From what little I know about Steve, I just think he lost interest in the biz... and sometimes when that happens you just have to make the right decision for yourself.

I think it is extremely disappointing, to say the least, for employees like Nick, Frank, and Jack..or anyone, to just have the boss come on Sun night and say thanks..but " thats all folks".

I hope he at least paid you a severance..
Finless glad to hear that your the one that built the T-rex for Steve. Do you know if the swashplate was "modded". I'll be sure to give you or nick a holler re support.
Nick, I 've only been able to fly her for a total of 3mins... before my TX batt started to fade and she began to glitch..but she flew very well, at least for that brief flight. I do want to chat with you about the programming..I was planning on coming into the store, but now we'll have to do it another way. Maybe you could give me a buz.. Do you still have my number?

I think that Frank, Nick or Myself will be available to help anyone who may need it, as we have not lost interest, we are all flyers and only wanted all of our customers helicopter to fly well. So as for support it may still happen give us a shout!! were workin on it.
Oh by the way no severance "nothing" "nauta" "0" "Zip" not even a warning. and I just spent all day saturday straightening up the shop!

I myself work at a hobby shop, and after seeing all the packing lists, I can say that money made on a sale is very, very low since all LHS, if they want business have to basicly stay at or below mail order. So take a $189 t-rex. We get them for only about $160. Or take a $500 revo. We get them for only around $400. Most of the parts we get, we only get a few bucks cheaper, if even that. For a stand alone hobby shop to do well, they will either needed a whole lot of business, and the customers willing to pay retail, (no one wants to pay $900 for a revo), or the owner willing to take the losses. Unfortunatly, even though the hobby is growing, mail order is growing even faster, leaving the LHS with a few tough choices about what to do. Very stressful. Fortunatly, where I work we have an art, and framing store to keep us belly up, or else we would have probably been 6ft under a while ago.

You know you have to many heli's only when your wallet is empty.

Thats why I buy everything I can at my LHS even though it costs a few bucks more. Only time I mail/internet order is when the LHS cant get something I need in a timely fashion. My LHS is manned by a couple of heli guys and it's worth keeping them in business for the support they can provide.

Sorry to hear this place closed. I was in Long Beach on business last month and stopped in just to take a look around. Seemed like a well equipped shop with knowledgeable people.

I bought my T-Rex from Steve at the AMA show. He is a great guy, hope all is ok for him. By the way for the local OC pilots, There is a small independent hobby shop in Garden Grove called Rob's Hobbies. He has a decent supply of Align T-rex parts. He said he personally is not into heli's but would like input from T-rex owners as to what parts he should carry the most of and would be happy to assist us. What he did have was comparably priced to Dream.
