Hopefully they'll price the 12z at the right price point and drive the cost down for both the 14mz and the 5014 receivers.
How exactly would that happen?

if they price the 12Z low, then they cannibalize sales of the 14.

if they price the 12Z high, then I would think most people will
just spring the extra dollars for the color screen 14.

the only way to drive the cost down is to have JR or Airtronics
come out w/ something that kicks @ss for less $$$.

Folks, have been saying the same thing about the 9Z for years "I'll buy one when the price goes down". The fact is, the price never went down. In fact, I believe it went up. They were $849 on Tower just before they went to discontinued. That's more than I paid for mine when I bought it in 2003.

The other issue you have with lowering the price is you piss off all your customers that already bought one. Not exactly good for customer satisfaction....

I was speaking more to the 5014's than the radio itself. I don't realistically think the 14mz is going to come down. Although, the 12z I'm sure shares the same Futaba custom chips as the 14mz. I just don't think the economies of scale are there until they start making 9C's using the 2048 technology / chips.

Tower is still price gouging though. Just like the old days where they forced us all to go to the grey market, they are doing it again. The 5014 is $339 here in the states (I've gotten prices as low as $270), but you can get them for $225 or less overseas. A $100 price difference is a lot for a freakin receiver. That region bull$hit is just to bang us for more cash...

Would be nice, but at least Futaba should really consider producing lower-channel G3 Rx's. Definitely not everyone needs 14 channels or even 12. C'mon Futaba, get some cheaper alternatives to the 5014 out already!!!!

Prices
RCFan,

I'd like to see them start by dropping the price by about $100.

There's absolutely NO reason they are that expensive.

14MZ G3 receiver
I cut the antenna on two of my old receivers to the new lenght as stated by Futaba to the new fix which was 55cm in lenght. My question is, I just purchased two new G3 receivers and the lenght of the antenna wire measured from the case is 53 1/2cm on the new ones. Has a new update on the lenght changed?

No prolems wth my RX with the base loaded antenna, even after 2 crashes.
Hmmmm . . . wonder what that says ?

Shorten the antenna to 55cm from 100cm ?
I'm still scratching my head to see how that fixes a lock-out ?

Sorry man, I forgot to mention, the crashes were not lock out or glitch related .

Nops.

Editor is 1.0.6 and Software is 1.13

You either get the Tx with this software or you can just download the patches and install them. Either way your Tx will be updated.

A friend of mine bought one last week and it has 1.0.6 and 1.13

Yep,

The release date of V1.06 is 16-1-06(This is the date of the big binary file that is part of the software download).

You should not have to worry about the software version. You can download the latest one (or ask nicely )

Bought my T14 last week.

Also...
Apparently Futaba switched to a gold case that looks like a 9Z case. They don't sell the upright case anymore.

I bought mine a couple of weeks ago. It came with the "lay down" style case, but it's silver. There's still plenty of room for accessories. I think this is a better size/configuration.

I prefer the 9Z style case better than the original 14MZ case.

Anyone with the new 9Z style case who would prefer the upright style, let me know. I will trade and pay shipping both ways.
