Iron and flux is Cuda's Depart. It's good we are good at different things and work together making the hobby a lot of more efficient (only to far and too much gas to his house ). Do you use the balancer plug on the Hobbywing? Do you think that make any difference at all. Hobbywing also make a model w/o the balancer plug and they are dirt cheap (I mean dirt dirt). They are testing out their 60A and 80A models too, so I may never need to worry about BL ESCs again . They also sell a 3A stand alone BEC (which I may soon import )

3D Pro? I have only "1D" under my belt, what am I going to do with "3D"?

Hi G_f,

I have not tried the monitor/balancer plug yet. I'm trying to characterize my flight time vs battery. Then I will add the plug to see what happens.

I'm curious to see what it does when I'm flying and getting low on the pack. Right now (without the plug) when I get to 13-14 minutes this heli lands itself, really quickly. It goes sluggish to landing within a couple, 5 seconds.

I'll let you all know when I use the monitor plug

Cheers,
Leslie

Leslie,
Awesome sound on the video ,thanks for honoring my request. That beltdrive is sure nice looking. I have tried for two days to get a video of the purple queen to no avail and today was cold ,but full sun ,it's the north wind that nitched it.

Hi Arnie,

Glad you liked it! The sound worked out pretty well. Since all I had to do today was watch the 18 inches of snow pile up. I thought a video was good project

Cheers,
Leslie

Hello leslie,
Yeah I was wondering how much snow you got. The video was a great idea to avoid cabin fever. Yes the sound is sweet and you flew close to the camera so I could pickup on the tail sound great job.

Well it finally happened!!

I creamed my beltdrive fp!!

the amazing part is I only broke the head block and dinged one blade! While I was dismayed when it happened (understatement). It was totally pilot error.

I had my radio on, throttle cut off engaged, plugged the battery in and ESC chirpped something new, not a happy chirp. I unplugged the battery, puzzled and plugged the battery in and stood pack. The esc still was not happy, for some unknown reason I took the throttle hold off.

Well off she went into the ceiling, then I hit the hold, and down the ground!!!

I'm still trying to figure out how the head block snapped but everything else is okay, even the grip balls??? go figure. Maybe the other goddess was smiling on me

So I'm rebuilding the head, I have a cnc head block kicking around, since it was mentioned in another thread; the cnc block weighs 4gms and the plastic head block weighs 1.4gms.

Cheers,
Leslie

You should have been outside in the snow, nothing would had broken. You told me it was an ugly auto, so did you have the auto gear in it? Did it help at all? was it just hit the ceiling too hard and bounce off into the floor ? Too bad your video camera wasn't on.

Hello leslie,
So sorry about the mishap and you were very happy with the hobbywing just a little glitch ,but it was talkng to ya maybe the manual can explain the sound so we all can learn something. It might not be so bad waiting for my kit while you work the bugs out.

Thanks for all you do,

Arnie

Chuckling here,

No I don't have an autogear.... hence the problem. the bigger problem is I did not listen to the ESC!! It knew, I didn't listen!! I get agravated with myself when I do dumb things...

this is probably a great testimony to CRB68's frame. The bird has to be solid to snap the head block and not take out one link or grip ball!?!

happy valentines day, boys!!

Cheers,
Leslie

Talking about V-day. I got my wify some flowers, a card and a stuff animal wearing a T-shirt that has our picture printed on the front. I am still not out of the dog house. Maybe this heli thing is doing more damage than I thought .

I just realized why I love my wify and heli. Because they both talk back. My RC cars don't that why they are sitting in the garage

You guys are treating me too good

I got my Goddess blades in the mail last night (the only Valentine's day gift I received). Man they are nice! Now I am too afraid of using them in case I break them . I asked Leslie for some broken blade grips so I can try to fix them. Guess what, she sent me a pair NIB. You put me in tears

I bought a new Elite FP head from Hover101. I paid him $22. He got the shipping box returned to him and destroyed by the post office. Guess what, he sent me a Paypal payment of $25.

It's good to have whole bunch good people to talk to and share the fun of the hobby with. Guess what my lovely wife did to me on Valentine's day? She told me to sleep in a different room. The couch was back breaking. Starting tonight, I will have to share room with all my helis . I am lucky that I have a very nice spare bed, now I just have to make room for it in my workshop.

Hi All,

Sorry you're on the couch G_F... should have gone with the rubys

My beltdrive is back up and running. Now sporting a pretty cnc head block.

I've tried to recreate the problem. It was me, not the ESC. I had accidently switched my left, top switch on my radio. I use this switch for flight mode (normal, stunt). Since I setup this model by copying another model the flight params came with it.

The bottom line is I switched to 3d with a 100 percent throttle. The ESC told me I was an idiot.... and I proved it correct.

I've now disabled that switch for my beltdrive fp.

lesson: double check your setup!

Cheers,
Leslie

I am assuming you have the ESC in super slow start. I can't imagine the look on your face as soon as you plugged in the battery the heli starts to spool up and going faster and faster. You are standing next to it and in panic of flipping your throttle and nothing stops. Then the rocket lifts, straight to the ceiling, then straight to the floor. Good thing thou, Mr Wilson didn't came down on your head or near your face. That would be a lot more scarier

actually it was more hysterical. it took off and jumped up to the heating duct, bounced to the floor when I flipped the switch.

like tha was not enough; In my panic I flipped the switch again... up to the duct, bang! and back down.

I was totally having a blonde moment

I'm still amazed that all I broke was the head block. I think I really like the polycarb struts I got from rcheli-tech they really absorbed most of the shock.

you're right, I wish I had the camera on. I could have won some money on one of those video tv shows

Cheers, and glad you got your blades!!
