very nice.. but you still need to work on it..
as you can see the "letters" are getting Wide when your RPM is higher
try to make it same size between 1000rpm to 3000rpm..
(it's all about Quality of the sync...)

The sync was there otherwise the letter would have been spinning. Pulse width makes the letters wider.

That's what i sayed...
Sync = Puls width that fit the Rpm that change all the time...
so the Sync need to be fixed..
the letters will spin only if the tail spin.. the "Sensor" is on the boom or near it.. so i didn't talked about that..
i'm shure ovaltine know what i'm talking about.

Sync means different things I guess. The sync would normally signal the beginning of the cycle. To *sync* with the spin of the blades of course.

Juvaknin, you are right -- the pulse width is fixed at the moment -- next version of the firmware (in a couple of days) will be inversely proportional to the RPM. Not sure if manufacturers will have them out in a few months though -- I've been looking and can only find ordinary night blades.

Axis, the copper tape is as thin as ordinary tape so it doesn't affect flight.

I'm not 100% sure if a production version will ever be made -- I'm investigating "flexible circuits" as an option. However, I will certainly entertain requests from DIY people out there -- I can provide all or some of the components required to make them, including the PIC chip with customised messages. Just send me a PM.

For those who must absolutely have a pair, I can make them in very small numbers just like my prototype. Just be aware that they are labor-intensive to make by hand -- cutting and laying copper tape and surface-mount soldering -- so they won't be cheap. Just send me a PM.

That is probably one of the neatest things I've seen... However, I think I better learn how to fly my rexy a little bit better before jumping off into something like that. Heck, I have a hard enough time just flying in the daylight!

just an idea...: as i said before, that lil vectron flying saucer was equipped with such a system. but you could read the messages from the SIDEVIEW, as ist had the leds in a vertical position on its side... perhaps it would be possible to attach those leds vertical at the tip of the blades on the t-rex pointing to the surface... ehr... not my motherlanguage, i think you know what i mean... perhaps it would even be easier to setup such a system... just a suggestion for you. best regards.

i personally am still waiting for the Align vaccuum-heli...

(my wife says i can run ANY vaccuum cleaner in the house i want-- so if Align makes a hybrid heli , then i can finally 'fly in the house)

awesome idea and impressive execution

I have been flying helis for a long time, in fact, those of you that remember the Kalt Baron 28 should have an idea. We thought we were cool when we put AAA batteries in the weight groove of the blades and ran the wires for lights on the tips. RPM readouts on the blades is super cool. "Eat At Joes" comes to mind! Next there will be video images coming off the blades!

I bought that Baron over the counter from Circus Hobbies!!
