T-REX tail pitch slider
Thanks celihopter for all the info.
It's been very helpful.
Where did you buy the T-REX tail pitch slider and do you have a part number?

yoadrian,
sorry I was out flying......
I would get a TP2100 (Thunder Power)Batterie.
I have excellent results with it - more then 250 charges and still runs strong. I never balance charge - only use a Triton computer charger with I guess good results.
I use a Spectrum moded JR6102 with no problems. It is a DX-6 radio mounted inside a 6102 shell. Lots of info available on this forum about it.
I use HS-56 servos all the way around including the tail. I guess the HS-65 servo would probably be the better choice with respect to mounting. Both will work. I had Futaba 3107 and 3103 mounted with no problems except stripping. I would stay with the Futaba servos since they are already mounted - they are good and fast.
I am not so sure about the align 35 ESC. I had one on my TREX SE for 9 flights or so with no problems. It suddenly started making trouble.
Figured I cant have that and changed to a CC-35 which is working flawless for me so far. Guess it is a chance to take or not.
For the gyro I suggest to go with a GY-401 from Futaba just because you will end up there anyway. It will take some setup time but is worth it - runs about $125 to 135 pending where you find it.
I would buy a HS-56($23) or HS-81($16 but slightly bigger) for the rudder channel (tail) both are extremely fast and reliable. They will hold the tail just fine. If you don't need to worry about the budget you can also go with a digital servo.....
Hope that helps.
Here in short the suggestions again:
TP-2100 Batterie
Triton charger
GY-401 gyro
HS-56 servo
Good luck - have fun.

hello all,
I did a bit of a mod to 120* ccpm to get better geometry (for achieving better cyclics). It has really improved the way my heli flies. I am sure this mod has been done before. Hope this helps someone.

Have a look @ the pictures, i had documented it before but the pictures probably weren't clear in my other thread. I hope i got the pictures right this time!

Replaced the front 2 standoff balls on the swashplate with normal ones. This will make all three balls on the swash equidistant from centre.

To get the servo horn lined up with swash i had to move the servo further inside the frame. I did this by the use of wide spacer and normal spacers. (you will need 6 wide spacers in total for all three servos ).

Now i have lot better geometry. all the control rods are square and i have faster cyclics.

In contrast to the pitch and aileron servo, my elevator servo is further outside to get the horn lined-up.

Forgot to mention, all this with s3108 servos, dont know how it would work with other servos.

Great work celihopter for a continuous updates.

ramsphat, Nice job! It is too much of a pain to tighten the servos down in the cramped spaces they are in or I would attempt it . You do not get any binding with a regular ball on the swash? I might have to try that portion of it.

It is actually not as fiddley as it looks. This is what i've used:

Sequence the washers in such a way that there is maximum surface contact between Frame -> Screw -> servo mounting Lug -> securing Nut.

The wide spacer you see in the picture is one of the accessories found in Futaba normal (eg. 9253/9254etc) servo pack. Its used as an insert into the rubber mouting bits.
For the elevator servo, it is a matter of removing main mast.

I havent had binding issues with the stock swash before/after the mod.

I am sure someone must have done this mod before.

NEW JR 6102 FM Air/Heli, w/R700 Rx:MD2 72.970 ~ 664759
Celihopter, asking for your help again, sorry. I am trying to figure out what version of the JR 6102 I need. There are xp versions, the versions on ebay talk about a mode 2 and even a mode 3. Then the PCM and the SPCM and FM. Also the RX 700 an Rx 770. What version do you have and does it matter if you want to do the Spektrum mod? The listing that I put in above is for $279 and comes with a Rx 700 and 4 537 Digital Servos. Is this a good deal? Should I hold out until the JR people come out with a spektrum version, I can do that if its with in the next 3 months. I need to put in some sim time before I attempt any flight. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Mine is a JRXP6102 and is about 2 years old.
I believe, the mode determines which side you want the throttle on.
I don't think you need te PCM receiver if you are interested in the DX-6 mod. All you need, is the transmitter. Unfortunately you will need a DX-6 radio as well.
I used a JR PCM receiver and had glitches all the time.

The mod is well worth every dime you spend on these two radios.
For more information please check the threads about the radio modification. I am not a radio expert but was able to do it in about 30 minutes.
What radio is coming out within the next 3 months or not is anybodys guess.

Hey Ramesphat. What do faster Cyclics do for you? More stable flight or more able to do 3D?

Faster cyclics is good for 3d. But it can translate into better control over the heli. I find that i am not working hard with controls. It does make a difference even for doing simple figure 8s also.

It should make a difference to 3D performance of the heli as well. Flip/roll rate definitely increased.

For hovering one will defintely not need to do this mod. But once into forward flight, this may make quite a bit of difference.

What kind of problems did you have? My motor is cutting out just when I start getting to hover speed. Is that what happened to you?

Great Planes Real Flight aircraft
Hey I spent $200.00 bucks for this thing and its great but now I find out you have to spent another $30.00 to get the expansion pack to get a version of the MX400. WTH? I just want the 400 I don't care about the 13 other aircraft. Is there any way to just down load a 400 from somewhere? You guys have any experience with this?

Blade length on mx400
Hey Celihopter, I toasted a pair of blades. Do longer blades make the bird any more stable? They have sizes that vary from 570 to 600 mm. What do you suggest? The blades that I destroyed were 570mm.

Yes they do.
But it is almost to stable to begin with.
I like the 305's for the TREX. They have given me the best results.
The 315's are hard to track on a MX-400 - too much slop in the head.
Most of my flying was done with the standard Helimax blades.
