main frame question
i happened to snap the main frame. i glued it, snapped it again with a rough landing. did the same thing one more time. i was wondering if the aluminum frame would be a nice upgrade and more durable. i am not new to r/c, however this is my first heli, so im still having a little trouble with hovering in one spot haha

My advice keep the stock setup and just buy a new frame and boom. When you have the new frame reinforce the frame with one of the following:

ZAP-A-DAP-A-GOO
ZAP-A-GAP CA+ (Green Label)
FLEX ZAP II
J-B WELD

Some people will also wrap fishing line or a light string around the rear LG mount to help reinforce it more. One other trick is to push your boom in all of the way and then use a dremel to cut out the area for the tail motor wire to go through. I just used Zap-A-Dap-Goo since I had it laying around. And built up the area on the inside of the rear gusset. I have not had an issue since.
Soap bottle body, LG Ugrade, DD Tail, Thunder Power 1320 Lipo, Autorotation gear, and 9 tooth motor

donnyprime,

I keep wondering how you straighten out the metal frames- never had one. Anyone out there with a metal frame care to comment? Replacing the plastic frame is very easy (I have had some practice)and like Bill8bud said I use the wrapping with cf thread and ca method on the rear strut support - also wrap 2 turns plastic packing tape around center of boom to deflect boom strikes.

Thanks

I have the alum. frame and love it. Very strong and well worth the $$. If you are going to go through the steps to change the frame you might as well upgrade at the same time.Don't tell my wife it crashed!!

Mine is the alum frame from HH. I put the dual tail motors on it and ditched the GWS DD tail motor. As for the landing gear, these would be a great upgrade to the alum. frame but the mounts on the stock frame would be the weak point.Don't tell my wife it crashed!!

Al main frame
You have to use the little trick with the plastic tube and the receiver wire, to get rid of it. No Problems, a little heavy

I got the Al frame and thought it was going to be really cool. how did you all get the main motor into the slots without milling out the sides to let the screws go into the motor straight? I fiddles with that thing for a few hours before I gave up and just used the metal skids in the plastic frame and a new CF boom. I'd love to get the Al frame and boom on it but right now its still good and strong and flies fine even with the added weight of the skids. The only thing necessary for Evil to succeed is for good men to do nothing.
