Question about using my TX with G3
I have a question about using my TX ...
After I hook up my FUTABA 9CAP TX to G3 I need to know if I change a setting on my TX for the Raptor30 will it effect the Raptor in G3? or am I supposed to edit the Raptor copy that I made in G3 and set that to my TX?
Here is what I did:
Copied my Raptor30 model that is exactly the same setup that I fly my heli with and named it "sim" in my TX
I found many settings needed to be changed to make the G3 Raptor30 fly correctly. So I edited the Raptor in copy in G3.
My tail feels very loose and swings all over in G3 but my real heli does not do that.Im not sure how realisticly my TX setup is working wether
its exaggerated on the G3 RAPTOR or something is covering an issue in my real heli.
You know what I mean?
Any tips or advice on setups here appreciated.

James

First of all don't change any settings for your flying heli. If it flies well don't mess with the settings. You have to set the sim heli to fly in it's own world. It must have it's own model on the radio and thats the one you play with.

RCER22,
Thats exactly what I did.I named the model "sim" in my TX (exact copy of my Raptor 30) That is the only one that I would change.
Leaving the original Raptor model alone.
I discovered last night that if I change anything on my "sim model"
in the TX IT DOES EFFECT THE MODEL IN THE G3.
So I pretty much answered my own question.
But I found that the engine RPM seems to reach a point early in my throttle curve and stays there even though my curve is linear.
As it moves up the engine dosent seem to go any higher? My gov on the model in G3 IS OFF and in my TX IS INHIB.
I dont use a gov in my real raptor so I disabled it.Is this normal?
Is something keeping it there from over reving?

Kind regards

Hi
I don't have the G3 sim. However in mine (I use the Aerofly) there is a setting for the throttle channel assingment and I found that mine by default went right to half throttle before I even pushed up the stick. I had to set up the channel to work the way I wanted it to. It was kind of like an automatic idle up. You might have to do the same thing. Unless of course your throttle channel can make the engine stay at idle when the stick is at low position. If that were to be the case I would check the throttle curve in the radio and see if that changes anything. Also if your pitch were to come in too late that can make your throttle come up too early. I would try to set it up with a zero pitch in the middle and a full + and a full - at both ends of the stick travel. Like a 3d setup. Try do the same thing with your throttle curve. You should be able to set it up that way.

Thanks Rcer22
will try that tonight. The G3 is fairly new to me so what you said about the throttle channel jumping to 1/2 sounds about right with what I am experiencing.
I will report back with my findings...

It really sounds like the governor is still controlling the throttle. You will have to open the aircraft editor and either disconnect the governor or set it up so you can control it from your transmitter.

Yes, I found that the GOV was still active on the throttle channel.
For some reason it was still active after I disabled it.I never went back to check except for last night.
All is ok now and running sweet!
Thanks everyone for your ideas.

Fun with simulators
I get a kick out of watching the heli crash. The pieces fly all over the place. The best thing I find is having the nerve to do things I would never think of doing with my Raptor

In G3 if you browse about the engine & settings you will find engine power/torque/RPM curves that you can play with..

G3 has loads of adjustment/options...it's a very powerfull program, unfortunately a lot of people overlook it's capabilities

I find that by using your own transmitter for flying and tweaking it really shows the difference in the program with my Raptor.
It allows me to experiment with different settings on the bird and also REALLY learning my radio capabilities and options.I now understand how the GOV can benifit you with the head speed.I would not have understood the concspt that well if I hadnt worked with it using my radio and seeing the results in the sim.
I never really knew my radio that well until now!!
