Having trouble with spinning tail??
:confused:I am new at Heli's. I was in the hover mode and I lost it and had a minor crash. Broke landing strut and tail rotor linkage.Fixed it and now the tail spins out of control both ways? I have adjusted the tail several times. And the Gyro "Fatuba 240" seems to work when I move it around not flying? Any help would be appericated. Don

Check for binding on the tail shaft and slider unit.the GY240 may seem to work when the motor not running but as the tail spins it could bind.
Mine did the samething I changed the shaft and wala!
Maybe I just don't know

Hold the main rotor stationery and try to turn the tail rotor in both directions. If you can spin it the pulley on the stub shaft or the pulley on the tail shaft where the belt is driven is spinning on its shaft. You can fix it by pulling up on the pulley, putting some CA on it and pushing it back down.

Make sure your tail rotor is turning in the right direction. If it is not turning ccw, flip the belt over on the drive pully and reverse the tail blades in the grips.

When you move the tail servo arm by hand does it feel smooth or like it hangs up on somthing? You might have striped the gears in your tail servo. Also make sure that you didn't accidently reverse the direction on you gyro.

I think it is the gyro?
Hi all.. I tried all of the above and no go. I even put a new tail rotor system on from the one I am building. I disconnected the gyro and pluged the servo in direct and it quit spinning out of control, but very touchy. Can the Gyro be damaged from connecting it wrong? Anyway I think I need a new gyro?

Make sure your drive belt is not slipping. It may work well enough to spin the tail rotor, but not well enough to counteract the main rotor. I thought I had a gyro problem, then noticed the belt was real loose after a crash. Tightened the belt, problem resolved.Pad237

Try this
Your tail is setup wrong. I had the same problem the first time I rebuilt after a boom strike.

1) Turn off the HH mode on the 240
2) adjust the tail rotar so it is slightly a few degrees to the right
3) If you don't get it right away keep adjusting your tail rotor until it will hold without spinning violently.
4) Once this happens turn on your HH mode.

You will notice that you can't reset your tail with the HH mode on. This is a common mistake.

Thanks To All Very Much
I went through to tail rotor, and I went through the setup for the Gy240 and it seems to OK now. I still got alot to learn, and at least I got it back to a hover again. Thanks Again........
