Heli pitching up in FF
Hi all, I fly a 450XL CDE version, I have noticed that when I move forward, the faster it goes, the more it pitches up, does it indicate a CG issue like on planks?

I had a big case of this too, also on a cde. Check the cg, even if its not the direct cause of the upward pitch in FF its always a good idea to have the cg correct anyway. You can add another O ring to the head on each side where the blade grips go in to make it more stiff. I did this but instead of another O ring, i used a small piece of fuel tubing. It did help but it still pitched up a little bit. I havent flown my trex since then so i havent attempted anything else to solve the problem so if anyone else has any other suggestions, i would like to know as well. But as i said, adding another o ring will help. Also, what blades are you running? If your running with those yellow fiber blades, that could be adding to the problem as well because they aren't that great. Try the new black 315 carbons that come with the SE kits.. at 19 bucks they are awesome. Not too heavy, pretty stiff, and track great.

I was using the white 315 woodies, have just switched to 315Pro woods. Does the choice in blades change the tendency?

When I check the CG by holding the heli by the flybar, it looks about level from fore to aft

guys i see this pitching up problem from quite a few. i am not saying this is a fix in all situations but, one reason can be that the rpms are two low. i was using a 450 th with an 11 tooth pinion and had this problem very severly but when i switched to a 13 tooth it went away. like i said before this may or may not be the problem on your particular heli.darryl garrison

Hi.

This is a common problem of the T-Rex. At least the ones I've flown; V1, V2, and 450XL CCPM. The last one is the only one that does it less. I have the 450 CCPM and If I want fast ff flight without pitching up,I have to have the nose heavy and the center trim set forward... If I have the CG how it slhould be and the trims all centered, then I can do very slow ff flight, wich is good to practice nice and straight ff flights.
I love my Rex and enjoy it very much. It's a very good heli and cheap.
But before,I had a Zoom 400 and never had problems of pitch up in ff flights.
I think it's a design problem of the Rex...

This is only my opinion, based on my experience...

I'll second what darryl said, make sure you have sufficient headspeed. I've witnessed this as a cause.
