Name that heli...
Can someone tell me what the large green heli is in my gallery? I landed last week down the road and SHOOK my house.

See the little guy too...it was a heli filled afternoon.

Thanks Jeff

No problem. I knew it looked Sikorsky but wasn't sure of the model number. I used that FAA page to search the N number since it was clearly visible in the photo.Andy

Sikorsky is about a half hour drive from here. Been looking in the sky my whole life, always intrigued by aircraft. Been to lots of airshows, now I try to make my own airshow They were testing helicopters in the 80s at night and people called thinking they were UFOs...it made the news and lots of papers at the time.

So happy they did away with the Sikorsky bridge, it was a metal grate, and it was slippery!!

I live at the end of a runway now in Yalesville-Meriden Markam Airport.
Plus Hummingbird heliport is 1 mile away, and they train there, the little pod and boom is what I see most, they have a white one too. And in Mass we lived in Northhampton right across from the airport, lots of jumpers.

So the N# will tell you about any aircraft?

Thanks, Jeff

Yep, that's the S-92. I used to work on those when I was at Sikorsky. How close are you to Stratford? The assembly line used to be in Bridgeport but it's now in Stratford. Looks like they were doing a test flight before going to paint. Never saw N numbers over primer before.

That helicopter was designed specifically from the ground up using Sikorsky's own money for the presidential helicopter role to replace the VH-3D. As usual in aerospace, politics got in the way and the Lockheed badged Eurocopter EH-101 won the competition. The major customers so far have been offshore oil rig ferrying companies and the Canadian Air Force which placed an order for 20+ for maritime patrol.

Here's the first production ship belonging to PHI being test flown at the main plant in Stratford.

conneticut is a great place to live
Sorry Emile but I beg to differ

Ct is what it is...an arm pit of New York, just not as smelly as Jersey. And yes its COLD!! And very humid in the summer. We cant win here.

Im about a 30-45 mins from Sikorsky depending on traffic. I see lots of helis everyday-night. I know when they are coming, the house starts to shake!! Saw a very pretty Jet Ranger doing low passes the other day while I was flying.

That heli looks real nice with paint. It was big and loud and very powerful, it blew my skinny butt and I was like 15 yards away, knocked my hat off.

Going on my first helicopter ride in a few weeks, in St. Lucia to top it all off

Have a great day, Jeff
