New Robbe Conversion Kit?
What do you think about this? It weighs 9lbs 15oz ready to fly W/O fuel. I have about 3 gallons through it so far with no problems. I still cannot belive the performance. There are more pictures in my gallery. There is one picture of a Futura conversion also. Let me know what you think.

I have seen this up close
Guys, I saw this a couple of months ago. Andy, this what I said to look out for. I love the simplicity. It is a stratus like chassis for our Robbe mechanics. The quality is amazing and very finished looking. What a platform for our gearing, tail systems and rotorhead. I hope this is a hit for Mike.I remember when Walt borrowed the schluter design ideas for the first Xcell, now a turn around.

Just one of my freaks
This is a conversion that I am prototyping. Yes it is based on the Stratus frame design, simple light and strong. I am thinking about kitting this conversion if enough people want it. I also have the Futura conversion in the works, see attached picture. Both conversions share some of the same frame parts. I hope to keep the price under 500.00 USD for the conversion with the carbon fiber landing gear. Please keep in mind this is just a guess on the price, as I am not trying to sell this kit yet. I just want to see if there is any interest in this so I know which direction to go with it.

Do the original canopies fit on properly without any mods? It'd be nice not to have to put more holes in them if possible. How strong is the landing gear and are you getting any flex between the main gear and the motor?

Yes the original canopy does fit. But you have to drill new lower (front) holes only. I tried to use the stock mounting locations, but the lower (front) mounting point would be in the way of the servo. If you look at the canopy on the proto, it has a zillion holes in from all of the changes I made throughout its design.

The landing gear are real stong. I can hold the heli about 2 feet in the air without the blades and drop it without damage to the landing gear. I am sure I could drop it from higher but I want to fly it a little before I break it.

From what I can tell it loads the same during aileron tic-tocs as elevator tic-tocs. It does not load up as easy as the stocker. I am for damn sure it flys way better that the Mille 2. I still cannot get over the pitch (collective) power, but this is my first CCPM machine. It rolls and tumbles insane fast with only 5 degrees of cyclic. I think this is because I made every effort to raise the center of gravity of this machine. The carbon gear really help. I even raised the canopy about an inch.

Do you think you will get any greef from M/A? It does look like a stratus frame set. I do like it. I would try it.

Mike,

Forgive me, i don't fly robbe but i do like theie stuff. Your frames look very good but i have one question. The robbe mechanics have the head offset by 45deg because of the system 88, so how are you using a 120 deg swashplate?? Or am i being thick??

Cheers, Dan.

the same way the S1090 CCPM conversion kit does it.

that kit includes new 120 swash and a new washout/pitch comp.
which is where the magic is. It mechanically removes the 45.

Swashplate
Take a look , he's got a Quick UK washout and swashplate for the Mill-3. I used that washout from the start on my machines.

The Conversion is CCPM and uses the Mille 3 swashplate and mixing set. I am also using the Mille 3 upper bearing block and long shank pinion gear. It will convert the Mille 2 or the Milly 3. If converting the Mille 3 you need the Mille 2 tail drive PTO, as the elevator bellcrank would hit the Mille 3 PTO.

I like the Quick UK mixing set, it does not flex like the stock unit. I also used the Quick swash after hearing about the Stock Robbe unit. Some people say the stock Mille 3 swash gets real sloppy in a short period of time.

I dont think I will get any flack from MA. The Conversion is not an exact copy of the Stratus. It is definitly different enough to make it legal. My lawyer explained it like this, "take a Ford and a Chevy truck, they both have four wheels, they both have the motor in the front, they both have doors and a hood, they both work the same way as far as function. But they are different, not exactly the same. This also applies to your product."

I am going to try to make Clints Birthday funfly. Anyone is more than welcome to show up. I will have The Millennium and what I have of the Futura with me if anyone wants to take a look.

That is a very good design, love it. I am in for a kit when you are ready for production. I always loved to fly my Mill 2. Just that it is no longer popular in the State, that's a shame!
