Apple Cinema 30"
Anyone using the Apple 30" Cinema Display on a PC? I was hoping to get some feedback regarding gaming performance.

I have one with my Mac. Tried setting it up with PC but could not - my GForce 6800 on PC does not have DIV2 port and on DIV1 the screen is not that good. I will be buying a new PC some time soon and then will upgrade my video card to the one which supports DIV2. Then I will start using it with PC.

Sorry to be of no help however I will also be interested to know if anyone using such display with PC.

Watch out with the apple monitors on PC

I almost bought one, and am VERY happy I did not

I bought the Viewsonic 20" instead and am very happy.

You might consider the viewsonic 32" LCD TV, it is 8ms and works as a monitor too.

I am not sure which size it was exactly, but I was going to buy the one that is the middle size basis correct color and my experience with the old version.

Almost bought it on impulse, then I read that this particular unit (middle size only) had major incompatibility issues with PC systems which totally surprised me.

Also given the price the Viewsonic stuff I think is just as good.

I looked at the Apple Cinema displays among others.. but ended up with the Dell 24" widescreen... they have a great special going right now for under $900. I'm very pleased with mine so far!

I was thinking about that too. For 1 apple 30", might as well go for 2 Dell 24" and change.

I have had to return two of the VP171B's to viewsonic since they failed (shut off intermittently). I was not happy with them, and I suspect the 19 is in the same class. The 20 (VP201B)seems clearly in a higher class (true 160 degree viewing without color shift like the 17 when mounted vertically). I like the three year warranty. I had one bad intermittent pixel on the 17, but zero on my two 20's. 12 bad pixels would really make me mad.keepin' it real

The Dells are the same LCD panel as the apples. Only think different is case and backlighting. I would guess the apple backlighting is slightly better, but that's just conjecture (the price difference has gotta be justified somehow!). The Dell panels are often mentioned in photography forums as being great LCDs after the really expensive, specifically-for-graphics work stuff. They are great panels, and I've always found the colour accuracy out-of-the-box to be suprisingly good.

you need two video cards to run the 30", i believe. two 64 or 128 MB video cards, it would run just as good on the PC.West Valley Heli Club
