Hey,

The 15% showed real promise in my Falcon 50 until the aileron servo failed. Hence my setting up with a new fuel was cut short, but it wasn't far off the Magnum settings I was using before.

I shall be trying the 30% in my YS91 Predator today if the weather hold out long enough.

Hi Ian
I will be interested how you get on with the 30% as i am considering it for my Vigor 90. I have been using Magnum 30% up until now. Can you tell me what is the oil content is?

Hi Ian,

First impressions are good mate, needles didn't really need altering all that much, just leaned off idle screw a bit but that could just be my setup. There appears to be a little less smoke which is nice, as noted by my fellow fliers.

I'm going to keep testing it but I'm very happy so far.
I was reluctant to try something else after Magnum which I get one well with, but this Juice looks good.

Coolice,

I ran Magnum 20% in my OS37 and now run the same in my os50 Hyper and have been very happy. I recently had to strip my R50 down to change the pinion and bearing (common problem of pinion slipping in bearing) and while I had the engine out I thought I'd pop the head off to look at the internals - all was mint like new, no piston scoring, piston top was still shiny with a small patch of tea coloured stain near the exhaust port, clearly magnum's doing it's job and my tuning can't be far off.

I have all but run out of Magnum, and already bought a gallon of 20% Heli Juice so I can try it. My question is I know you are sponsored by Century who are the importers/distributors of the new fuel, but is it really ok, what is the oil content % - given how good the insides of my engine are I'm now a little reluctant to try the new fuel?

Kind Regards,

David

Hi David,

Like your engines my own ones are as clean as a whistle inside and so there is always that niggle in the back of your mind that makes you question why change something that already works well.
Also I have built up a very good relationship with Buzz of Magnum Fuels in the US and SkyLine the UK distributers and so changing is a hard decision.

As you have mentioned I am sponsored by Century, but I am not sponsored by YS Engines (I'd like to be if their listening ) and so if I blow my F3C engines on a different fuel it's on my own head.

However Mark Tilbury has had real input into the blend of this fuel and he certainly knows his stuff with models & engines, so I turst his judgement when he shows me a good product.

Like I said I haven't flown the blend as much as Magnum yet, but first impressions are it looks good and goes well.
All the major oils are there to protect the engine and so thats good to know and also in the right proportions.

The Century UK web site doesn’t really give any technical information on the fuel. So does anyone know, or perhaps could find out, the basics?

i.e. Does the fuel use a high or low viscosity oil? Better still which oil and what percentage is in the mix?

For the price the fuel looks inviting, especially as it appears that you get 4 Litres and not the usual smaller US gallon.

I was told yesterday by one of the guys at Model World aka Century UK that the new fuel has 12% of one type of Klotz oil, 3% of another Klotz oil, and 3% of refined de-gummed castor oil.

I also heard that it is not fully synthetic and it seems a bit light at 18% oil content. Like you guys, my engines are running really well on Magnum, there's no way I'd change from a good thing

I don't want this thread to get at a new fuel which may well be really good once it's been used for a while, it's just that there is always a reluctance from people in life in general to move away from something they are happy with.

I understand that the new fuel has 3% of highly refined castor, not the usual cheaper product - this means the fuel is suitable for both ringed engines and ABC engines and should burn very cleanly.

As said I have used Magnum for a year and half, and have to say in my opinion only it's great fuel, my engines clearly agree as the insides are almost as new.

Decisions, decisions ???

info and prices on the fuel would be good if you have any ian as the web site is sketchy. i'm not convinced about having castor again and i'm VERY reluctant to go away from magnum as it's been good for me except the smoke.

cheers

Hey Guys,

Fuel prices as taken from the web site :

Heli Juice 15% (4 litres) = £14.99
Heli Juice 20% (4 litres) = £16.99
Heli Juice 30% (4 litres) = £19.99

All prices Inc. VAT.

http://www.centuryuk.com/Products/C...Cool+Heli+Juice

Remember this fuel is slowly but steadily now becoming available from your local Century stockists and if it isn't on their shelves yet, request it. I am sure they will like the blend to and welcome it as another addition to their shop.

I just got back from Charmouth, all the top guys (Bob J, Steven Gerrard, Paul Lisson, Wes Crocket) were using Magnum and their engines were sweet. Maybe if it was a whole bunch cheaper I would give it a try

Hey,

I you really fancy the HeliJuice then give it a try, I can honestly say you will not be disappointed in it.

Ok I fly for Century, but as I don't get engine deals I was very sceptical about changing from my tried and proven Magnum Fuel to this new and unknown one. But so far it has been a good decision, while both fly the models well and produce very good power the new HeliJuice doesn't give off as much smoke as Magnum. For me competing in F3C this is a good thing, but of course so is reliability with it.
My engines run nice and cool with this fuel and that combined with reliability put my mind at ease.

A lot of the decision, along with model choice is whats available at your local hobby store. If your local Century Heli stockist hasn't already got Heli Juice keep your eyes open next time your in as they soon may.
