I second what Chris said. Keep it together and your new sisters and brothers tight and when its all done come home safe.

You wont regret it, remember to have fun when you can. It's important to wind down when you can

In that case I must highly recommend 67U! Medium Helicopter Repairer.

I worked and crewed Chinooks for almost 7 years, and would not trade the experience, friendships, hardships, for anything.

Don't let 'em talk you into a components shop like engines or sheetmetal, go for the whole thing if your ASVAB scores will allow it.

With Chinooks, you get to fly with the birds (if you like to fly), unlike Apaches or Cobras, and you won't end up in a Cav unit, like you possibly can with Blackhawks.

Chinooks keep you out of the heavy fighting for the most part, although we did do a couple of hot LZ's in Panama

Until then, do what you're told, when you're told, stay off the DI's radar (mine didn't even know my name 'till I interviewed for trainee of the cycle) and PAY ATTENTION. They will teach you to stay alive and keep your buddies alive.

PS. I wish I was going with you....

My Hats Off To Ya 300wby
My 10 years in the army was some of the best years of my life. My advice to you is simple. Choose an MOS that relates to what yo enjoy. Don't cross the Drill Sergeant. Listen to what you are told and pay attention to detail. Maintain your military bearing, and stay focused on you goals.

Most of all Pay Attention to your training. It Will Keep You and your Buddies Alive!!!

Best of luck to you in all your endeavors.

Innocent? Terrorists aren't! Anyone who helps terrorists, themselves are terrorists! End of line.
Whilst I kinda agree with your sentiment, saying that effectivelly incriminates every major western government

Havoc, trotting out the line about anyone who disagrees with the US military's actions being a terrorist supporter is pretty old hat.
It's not that you disagree with the US military, its that you blindly disagree with the US military.
I find it hard to believe anyone can condone whats happened here - conspiracy theories about Musharraf wanting the attack to happen aside
This shows your blindness. He can't just come out and tell the islamic groups in his country that he supports anything we do.

“In a speech broadcast Sunday on state-run Pakistan Television, Musharraf did not address the strike directly, but warned citizens against harboring terrorists.”

"If we kept sheltering foreign terrorists here ... our future will not be good. Remember what I say," Musharraf said in the speech, made Saturday in the northwestern town of Sawabi.”
The US indiscriminately bombing wherever they think the terrorists might possibly be hiding in the farce that is the "war on terror" is completely inexcusable, they have absolutely no right to do it and it only serves to stir up more anti-US sentiment in the areas that have been attacked and, indeed, worldwide
Let’s see where the terrorists indiscriminately attacked. The 1993 World Trade Center bombing, the 1995 bombing in Saudi Arabia, 1996 Khobar Towers, 1998 bombing of U.S. embassies in Africa, the 2000 bombing of the USS Cole, and of course the world trade center, pentagon, flight 11, flight 77, flight 93, and flight 175 on 911.

There was a time when we only rattled our sabers at these events and yes we may of had a few more friends but it didn't protect us or help us at all.

Hey Pooch

Now that you are in charge of American might, do me a favor and read this article about the new Iranian President and his plan to bring the end of days so the "hidden messiah" can return. Oh, and this article was written by Europeans, not Fox.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/mai...iran14.xml&;sSheet=/news/2006/01/14/ixworld.html

If the link doesn't work, you can find it on http://www.drudgereport.com

Once you are done reading it, why don't you let me know what your administration would do about it.

And by the way, we didn't fly our drones in Pakistan without their approval. Mucharraf (sic) is walking a fine line, so the "protest" is simply for domestic consumption.

Ok, can we stop saying 'Europeans' as if it's some homogenised psyche. It's just not. I think you used to mean France and Germany (at least, their administrations) but now Angela Merkell has (sort of) taken control of the German premiership, France is finding itself increasingly isolated.

Anyway, this article is from the Telegraph, the UK newspapaer of retired army majors "Telegraph, major?" "Thank you, Fawlty."

He will have the same problem with the world "leaders" as he did then. I do think these world "leaders" will have more pressure applied to do the right thing because this nut in Iran is very vocal about his intentions. But Russia was still doing business with him and in the process of selling an air defense system. Saddam bribed the UN, I'm sure Iran can do the same. If Bush learned anything it was not to rely on some of these corrupt world "leaders".

Hot from the AP....
PESHAWAR, Pakistan - Pakistani intelligence agents hunted Wednesday for the graves of four al-Qaida militants believed killed in an airstrike near the Afghan border — including one authorities suspect was a high-ranking al-Qaida figure.

ABC News reported that a master bomb maker and chemical weapons expert for al-Qaida was killed in the attack on the village of Damadola last week. He was identified as Midhat Mursi, also known as Abu Khabab al-Masri, who ran an al-Qaida training camp and has a $5 million reward on his head...

Thousands have taken to the streets in protest over the attack, denouncing the U.S. and Pakistani President Gen. Pervez Musharraf, who ended Pakistan's support of the Taliban regime in late 2001 and has himself been targeted by al-Qaida attacks.

Nevertheless, allegations persist that Pakistan harbors dangerous Islamic militants.

On Wednesday, more than 5,000 people marched through the Afghan border town of Spinboldak, chanting "Death to Pakistan" and "Death to al-Qaida" to protest a suicide attack at a fair this week that killed 21 people.
So how much coverage did the "Death to Pakistan, Death to al-Qaida" ralley get over here and on al-Jazeera"? I'll bet none if any.

Sorry to play the Devil's Advocate, but a lot of terrorists are seen by some to be Freedom Fighters.

In fact, some of these people then go on to form Governments friendly to the West......
