PC Game CD copying?
I'm looking for a free PC game copying program. I've searched and found nothing. Thanks!

it all depends what you want to copy there is a site or sites that tell you the copy protection method of every game once you know what it is then you can start a search for the correct program that will work to disable that protection scheme --

I downloaded a tool for that, says "Safedisc." Both Alcohol and Clone CD were supposed to work with that.--Eagles may soar high, but weasels don't get sucked into jet engines!--

You really need to read more on Game Copy World - as Drunk Monk said.

I've used that site more times than I can count in order to backup my gaming collection...and have YET to have one not work.

Makers of the Clone CD were making "Virtual CD drive" as well. That with the "Clone CD" was bulletproof .

How about telling us what game you're trying to copy? Maybe we can dig up more information for you at that point.

It is Command&Conquer: Red Alert 2

I should also mention that during the first attempt after like 10 minutes of it saying "error reading sector" it said it was only at 1% so i canceled it. The second attempt with Clone CD took like 20 minutes just to read but didn't have any errors. But for some reason i get the "has encountered an error and needs to shut down" message when i try to use the burned disc.

Hey i got Alcohol to work!!!! I just didn't give it enough time. At 10 minutes 15 seconds the read errors stopped and it kicked into overdrive reading at 48X! Only took a minute or two after that. After the CD burned i tried it and IT WORKS!

Once again thank you Drunk Monk and everyone else!

It sounds like the protection used was the original Safedisc . With Safedisk, all the errors are within the first 3 percent of the disc . Some CD readers where/are much faster at reading these errors than others , I have an old TEAC that took around 45 minutes on the original Safedisc while a friend had an unbranded drive which read straight through the errors in seconds .
Clone CD would have been able to do it no problem - with the correct settings . In future use "Clony" to identify the protection and choose the correct settings for Clone CD and it should do the rest for you .
At the end of the day , it gets dark .

Ok, i just tried copying Rome and the protection is Safedisc 4. Alcohol 120 only lists safedisc 1,2, and 3. It won't work for either and clone CD doesn't work either? I'm trying to make a pure copy, i'm not interested in that virtual drive crap. Now what?

Kraken, what programs do you use?

If you've got clone cd loaded , right click on the sheep in the task bar and click on "hide cdr media" . Then try and run your copied disc again .At the end of the day , it gets dark .
