New BLue Gear, SE
I've been through three sets of $16.00 gears. The first one came assembled - won't work with the SE until you take it apart - taking it apart damages it. The second set came partially disassembled, reassembling bends the shaft because you have to use a hammer to seat the gear. Went through two of these due to a bent shaft.

Has anyone successfully upgraded their SE kits with the new part? If so, how did you get the belt gear on the top of the shaft without bending the shaft?

Try heating the pulley and pressing them together in a vice. This is a more controlled way of doing it, rather than a hammer!

I must add, this is only my guess of how to do it. I haven't actually done the job myself.

Hey Bill,

I upgraded both of mine. You have to use a pinion gear puller on the one that comes pre-assembled. It goes back on pretty easy. Just make sure you use some green loctite when you put it back on. I haven't tried the one that comes unassembled yet, but a drill press is what i recommend if you have one.

Thanks guys. I'll bring it up to the shop. My next step was to strap the f*cker onto the bottom of my Evo 90 and see how long she lasts being dragged around the swamp ... Team Synergy Factory Specialist / Scorpion / Thunder Power / Byron's Fuels

New set
There's a new set out, the part number for the SE kit is HS1153, the front pulley comes off like Microheli one. The HS1152 is for the stock frame.

This is why I spent the rediculous 15 bucks or so and got the MH one with set screw, I did not like the fight and hassle. ...Once upon a time there were Nitros, flybars and frequency pins...

On the new set, if you just hammer the belt drive gear on like the instructions say, you will probably bend the shaft. I did it twice.Team Synergy Factory Specialist / Scorpion / Thunder Power / Byron's Fuels

OICU812, Probably a smart move. We've already had one align one start to slip. They should use set screws like microheli. Oh well, as with everything Align, nothing a little loctite can't fix.

The problem with the Microheli one is that the tooth count I believe is the same as the Align stock tooth count. The new blue Align forward tail gear has a few more teeth. So with the MH one, you aren't slowing the tail down any.
