Need Help for my Nikko Skywatcher
my helicopter has recently developed a problem..The tail blade does not respond to the controller..in fact it only works when i insert a newly charged battery and turn the helicopter (Not controller)on/off switch on. then the rear blade spins round as if powering up but when i put it on the ground to fly it, only the main rotor blade responds and the whole thing spins..any help would be appreciated

How to upgrade Nikko Skywatcher
After a bit of hacking, you will be able to fly the skywatcher and even hover it in your room. Click on the link below to see how to modify it.

How to modify the Skywatcher
1. Remove Nikko's trash from heli

2. De-solder the original wire connections

3. Modify the original swash guide/ anti-rotation bracket

4. Remove the original Thumb-Screw section to make room for servo

5. Mount our servos for Aileron and Elevator control with 3M tape

6. Solder connector plugs to the main motor and tail motor

7. Connector all plugs to the 4-in-1 (follow the label)

8. Check all controls are working

9. Install the 4-in-1 inside the electronics compartment of heli

9. Use velcro to secure Lithium Polymer Pack(for longer flight time) below the heli

Note: "4-in-1" refers to an integrated unit which consists of receiver, gyro, mixer and speed controllers all available on one PCB. E-Sky Honeybee (EK1-E004) heli or Walkera #4 heli has suitable "4-in-1" for this modification.

Transmitter must be matching type which is able to control the 4-in-1's receiver. Matching crystals must be used (1 for transmitter, 1 for 4-in-1).

Good luck,
Terence

All this and no video of final results?

Why go into so much trouble to get this nikko flying? does it fly so good after the money you have put in?

Wouldn't it be cheaper to buy another heli instead? Or was it only for the fun of hacking it?

Nice how to though

Nice Video
Thanks, the Nikko SkyWatcher happens to be my first heli, it took me for a wild ride. The amount of heli addiction I have now is unmeasurable but this heli is how it started for me.
Pictures here

Here's a sweet video of a better pilot (that's not my modified Skywatcher)-

Modified Sky Watcher Flying in N.L.

Cheers,
Terence

A trip down memory lane, my nikko skywatcher in 2019
I found a NIB nikko skywatcher, removed its guts like I did back in 2006 but now, I put in a 3-axis stabilization flight controller similar to those found in modern drones.
