Telescopic tail boom
Anyone have any good ideas for a telescopic tail boom? I want to take my blade along on some rides. I ride an 06 Vstar 1100 Classic and I am too young to enjoy saddle bags. I was thinking if I can come up with a nice retractable tail boom I could take the blades off and fit it in a fork bag

Use the box and styro that the blade came in and toss it into a large backpack or a duffle bag carried like a backpack. Would be easier than modding the heli as well.

You wouldnt believe the stuff that I could carry that way on my ZX-6R. Hope this helps.

Hi Hughes500E, you could cut the tail motor wire at the begining of the boom, put a male/female connector... instead of holding the boom with CA glue, fix it with a bolt..

Like the man with the golden gun, you have a secret-helico on the go!!!

I was thinking exactly that, remove the boom.
Artti, I'm hard core bud, the bag on the back wouldn't do the attire any justice

Former V-Star owner; do the air box mod, add in the K&N filter, rejet, less restrictive exhaust, and
buy the bags.
Helo: like the man said, make the tail removeable, the tail wiring may be tough to figure out....

now riding an FJR, quiter, faster, got bags!

The hard thing about the tail wiring is the parts about making it easy to remove. My front JST plug's wire, from the tail is under my servo mounting bracket.Bob J

Removable boom:

1) Use a small Deans micro 2 pin connector AT THE TAIL MOTOR (optional - but will prevent you from having to unplug the wires from the 4-in-1, and easier than rerouting them in the frame everytime you want to fly.)

2) Run the wires outside of the boom. Just wrap the wires around the boom like a candy cane - like this guy did:
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/atta...chmentid=699125

3) use set screw to hold the boom:

Wrapping wires around the tail boom like a candy cane has only one drawback that I have encountered. That being if you ever have a boom strike, the blades have a good chance of cutting your wires. That happened to me with one of the lights from Than Tran's low voltage lipo alarm. So now any external wires get routed along the bottom of the boom and taped into place so they can't rotate to the top of the boom.

Hi BikeNBoatN,

Mine is going under the boom in a straw with tie-rap.. for easy and

fast replacement... Now the boom seems bigger without adding any

noticeable weight.
