And if they were using a lower HS and more pitch.
Then clearly you dont understand the basic physics of helicopter flight, downdraft in a hover is a function of mass, more mass, more downdraft.

It doesnt matter if you have 4 degrees of pitch and 1800 rpm or if you have 5 degrees and 1600rpm, the same mass of air needs to be moving down at the same rate to maintain a hover.

Headspeed and pitch have nothing to do with that.
I have agree with 50Feet this would cause a lot of air movement and nothing blows around in this video.
Actually pleanty of stuff gets blown about, for a start there is the curtains, the zooms blades on the table.
Not to mention smoke. Now my heli looks like bug control when I fly, but this has nothing. I will say very nice manipulation of video.
Well I'm convinced that most people out there fly way too rich anyway for fear of a lean run, I'm not saying that that wasnt a lean run at all, it definatly was (not that it lasted long enough to do much, if anything to the engine) but the number of times I've seen people flying helis where the smoke obscures vision.....

Also do we know what fuel it was, there are pleanty of fuels that are designed to not produce much smoke.

Both require a sense of adventure, something we've slowly been losing in this world ... I'm certain that a lot of the folks that are quick to judge this as "bad" are actually eager to try it for themselves
You are dead wrong. Those of us with some mental capacity see this and decide very quickly that we dont want to try this. "Lets endanger our safety and the safety of every person in the room for a stupid kick" sorry but most of us grow out of this mentality after junior high or high school (hell, many of us werent this stupid even back then).

Comparing these fools to Columbus is rediculous. Columbus had a slightly higher goal than showing off If anyone involved in the stunt is reading this forum still, you are an idiot - there I said it .

It takes no sense of adventure to do what they did, only a lack of brain cells

What really gets me is that you can tell the pilot is somewhat experienced, meaning that he probably knows the dangers of helis - bad DNA mixed with some "substance" must be the reason

Risk assesment, is the risk/benefit ratio acceptable.

The space program, definatly, risking life in the hopes of attaining better scientific understanding of the universe is acceptable in some cases the benefits are so huge that it would be foolish not to try.

Flying an IC model helicopter inside so you can get some pics and a video to post on a website that 99% of the people who visit it are complete utter morons (putfile type sites), hmmmmmmmm

Have you read some of the comments on the sites that let you leave a message about a video clip, some of them just dont know what the hell they are talking about.

Those are the people I'm on about, and having read through some responces that some videos have gotten in the past, 99% is giving them some credit.

The question of what fuel is a valid one, depending on the fuel being used you can see a huge difference in the ammount of smoke an engine will produce.

OK.
The pilot may be very very good, but what chances would the pilot have

if someone in the neighbourhood decides to switch his/her tx with the same frequency ON to setup their heli?

or

if the rx battery went flat or the lead/switch fails?

It is not at all sensible to say the least.

Looks like there is oil stains on the camera lens.

Cant believe it. The heli was blowing that carpet, it certainly doesnt look like a light carpet.

I don't believe how stupid this guy was, my God did he think for just one second, "sh!t I could kill some of my mates here". I was looking at this other topic "Child Killed By RC Helicopter in Chinhae Korea" if you go down the page you'll see a pic of how far he was away and he killed a child and wounded two others .

An R/C helicopter crashed to the playground stand killing
an 8-year old girl and wounding 2 others at 9:23 am Apr. 1, 2005.
This girl hit by 1.5-meter model helicopter,
was prounced dead right after transported to a local hospital.
The 2 other students had light injuries.

This incident happened during an exhibition flight as an event for "Science Month" performed by a local club flyer who was invited
by the Elementary school. There were about 26 teachers 500
students watching the exhibition on the stand
when the crash happened.

The police are investigating the crash
which is believed to be a mechanical failure of the helicopter.
The flyer was charged for involuntary manslauter.

Every time you start your heli you have to think is this safe and if not, pack you sh!t up and go home. I know he was probably already at home
