Sounds like no fuel during tick tocks
While Flying my fury extreme I noticed It would sound like it was running out of fuel while doing tick tocks. I brought the heli down and saw that the header tank was fool and there was alittle more than 1/4 tank left in the main tank. Any suggestions.

I run: Fury Extreme

-OS 91 pumped
-two neddles
-over flow (were mid needle would be) goes back to the main tank
-Temps for motor stay at about 180 farenheit
-header tank
-Rev Max w/9250 servo

Check the bubble in the header tank. You should have no air bubble in the header tank also check to see that the line in the header tank is not comprimised causing a fuel starvation in a nose up attitude.

Check for excess movement in the fuel line near the carb. See if moving the fuel line pinches it shut or restricts the fuel flow. The rapid movements during tic tocs might cause the line to pinch itself shut periodically if it's not secured.

i fit were you, i would bypass the header tank, check all your fuel lines and clunk lines. if you have not tried one, i would install a fuel magnet. they work very well. also look at your exhaust stinger, if for some resaon it is kinking douring emtreme manuvers, it will cut the flow of exhaust off and try to kill the engine. hope this helps, roy

i would also take a hard look at the perry pump. have a few go bad, do not use them anymore. went to a cline setup and never looked back. if it a ps engine. make sure the short pice of tubing between the pump and back plate is not split or off.

I will check it out. How do you check to see if the perry pump is bad ? And is there another forum about the cline setup or what is it.

to check the pump, start the engine then pull line off that come out of the pump. it should squirt out fuel, wether there is enough volume or pressure, that is the question. or just try a new pump.an other method i have seen is to pinch off the return line, engine should go rich, if you do a search on rr , this may help you. i have not played with a perry pump in a long time. as far as the cline setup, this is a mod done by james oniel at omi. you need to send or by a 60k carb for this mod. basicly it use crankcase pressure to feed an on demand regulator that is attached to the carb. it works great, but it is not cheap.
carb is about 100.00 if you need one. needs to be a 60k
cline mod is 95.00 to install and mod the internal guts of carb.
opionional(big bore)but well worth it. he bores the carb opening and barrel to about 11mm. this cost about 100.00. and if you want to go for the whole match , put a viper head daul plug head on the engine. they are about 130.00. james supplies them as well.
if you go this route james can be reached at 256-776-0879 , he is easy to get a hold off and will help you any way he can. again this not cheap, but is works great.

Well I bypassed the header tank and went straight to the pump. It flew well (like usual) then i went into tick tocks. It did well and just when I was gonna say " i guess it was the header tank. The heli shut off. I autoed it in and say that the line was blown of the "in" part of the pump.
Is the back pressure strong enough to blow of the line?

If so, I figured it could have been cutting out with the header tank because one of the fuel lines was slowly lossing backpressure. Then when i came out of the tick tock it would catch right up.

I was gonna put a zip tie on the in side for the pump and try it again but i didn't have time for another flight.

Anyone have any ideas.

Easiest described: tail down, using back elevator and + pitch to get it rocked back to about 45 degrees. Then -pitch and forward elevator till 45 degrees the other direction. I'm sure someone else can probably explain it alittle better

...Picture the heli following the same motion as the moving arm on a metronome...

Hope you get the idea...

Well found out what it was. My motor was too rich. It would handle tick tocks fine before but then started to cut out. Well the motor has been breaking in and finally needed to be leaned. I got it at 1 turn and 2 clicks out. and alittle rich on the low end (from 90 degrees). It's running about 180 degrees farenhieght. The motor really came alive. Like night and day difference from the rich setting. WOW is all i can say. Thanks for all your help guys.
