7th Annual LA Classic Spectacular September 1st-4th 2006
http://www.laclassic.org for continuing updated information. With more events exhibits and fun for the entire family than ever before it's becoming the event to make if any is made at all. Last years overwhelming success only left the unattended sad. To recap on last year’s event we show cased the most amazing pilots in the LA area and beyond plus we debuted the fun court and vendor swap meet to the fun fly scene. Then we brought back the old specials from the full size helicopter show to the never done before slip-n-slide contest right down to the intensified helicopter clinics. Don't forget also our own revolutional 20 foot outdoor TV to compliment the evenings night flying. You may have read about these in the 2nd edition of RC Heli and Model Aviation. The 2005 event video will be available for purchase January 31st 2006 with all the hot dog pilot’s nerve and pretty girls on the slip-n-slide last year. The video will give you the closest experience to what captured and mixed last year by all our professional camera crews. Proceeds will go to support your fun at this event this year and in to the future.

http://angelvisionphotography.com/6...s_labor_day.htm Yes,the standard was set last year as we blew the roof of the normal fun fly event and created the Spectacular. It's going to be so big this year we couldn't fit it into 3 days alone so we had to add a fourth day. It's the biggest event so it had take up one of the biggest weekends of the year. Come and join us and see just what we can pull out of our magic hats to wow and amaze you this year. This will be a family recognized event with activities for everyone. For updates and request send your entries by e-mail to staff@laclassic.org

Just got the preview for the DVD ready in Windows Media. The quality is less than DivX but a few problems where coming up having to download the program to view it so hopefully this will solve those issues.http://angelvisionphotography.com/6...s_labor_day.htm

We are trying to put together a new type of clinic this year. We had clinics that covered building and set up last year but this year we would like to incorporate a new aspect to that. Not that we will be getting rid of the other by any means. We would like to incorporate buddy cord instruction to our program that would not just accommodate the fresh newbe but in fact the intermediate to advanced pilots that need some clinic time with very capable instructors. This will take a large amount of effort to arrange all the details evolved with this idea so I will need to get some serious feed back to commit some of the large names that would like to do this if there will be enough interest.

I need to know if you’re interested to do this of course. But mainly who you are and what you would like to learn or what issue you think you are troubled by so programs can be planned to best suit your needs. You can post or PM me if you would rather remain discreet but if you could post that would be better. That way your ideas and concerns would be met by others with related ideas and added to for a well complete program for everyone.

I also want to say thanks to Mitch Kauhn for his support and ecouragement in the preliminary planning of this years event. He has helped put some very intresting ideas on the planning table for this year.

I just spoke with Eric about this year's Classic. He's got some really good ideas about what he liked and didn't like from the last event and other recent FFs.
I, for one, especially liked the preview of the DVD - up to Saturday's footage - projected onto the white side of a trailer (Zoom's?) Saturday night just after night flying last year.
What are other people's opinions? What would you definately like included? What do you think could be done without?

I guess this really should be in the "Events" forum. Forgive me, but I am going to double post it.

The truck was donated for transportation and the movie screen by Western States Packaging. We could never have pulled off the event without them. They moved the obsticals and contributed finacially to the event. This participation really makes mountains move for all of us to enjoy Thank you again Western States Packaging.

The projector was on loan from RunRyder.

Update: Spoke with Todd Bennett tonight and confirmed himself free for the event and he has now booked himself. We have been discuissing the event and developing ideas for clinics that will specifically support the begginer level the intermediate level and the advanced level pilots. These clinics will not only be static classroom time but will share the years of experience that Todd has with students in the hands on flight training that will be offered. This will include physical excersizes of instruction from Todd and to be announced other instructors as well.

We are working to implement several aspects of the Synergy product in this envolvement. Which I am sure many of you have gotten the latest buzz words on in the past few days.

I have been getting great feedback from several of the sponsor now about last year’s event. I have two more vendors that did not attend last year, but did send contributions that have decided to join us at the event this year. If you were not aware of this, I would like you to know that one of the new things we started last year was returning feedback to our sponsors for their contributions. We did this by the forms that so many took the time to fill out for me. I thank each of you over and over for that. We also have been sending the 2005 LA Classic DVD, which is available to all of you online, to all of our sponsors and several hopeful sponsors we hope to bring aboard this year. So far the feedback has been great and looks to reflect very positively on our event this year. I have been able to do this with the support generated by the purchases of the DVDs that cover the many expenses that are generated by efforts to improve our event. Many expenses where rejected and refused by the club last year so alternate means obviously needed to be created to make things better for all of at the event this year. So far they seem to be working. Our star pilot list is growing but in needed ways that help the individual pilot. There tends to be an intimidating factor which I really am trying to diminish by efforts of having our star pilots work and assist there fellow pilots directly. This seems to be coming together well also. It brings us all together when the star pilots show us what the latest technologies will do and then brings the individual participants closer by showing them hands on the steps to doing those same moves and inputs.Eric Pacheco, AirWorksRC.com

Turbines Anyone?
Update the event is coming together nice.

Food:: We will be having Tri-tip at the field this year by very capable hands. Sodas food drinks etc. will be readily available.

Slip in slide has been asked to return for this year repeatedly. Even after last year dislocating my shoulder and suffering the ill effects of such still I have come to the resolve that the party must roll on.
A new more comfortable safer slip-n-slide is being sought after this year.

Pushing the level of class to the next level we will be assisted by Jason Kamar CD/coordinator of the LA Jets event (lajets.com). Several of the nice things evolved with the LA Jets event will be introduce into the LA Classic. Food, pilot, packs, closed network Database and ID's. We have been disguising bar codes to check in out and post radio impounds and frequency. This will display each of the pilot’s pictures and frequencies being used from what time to what time and automate the frequency rotation to increase the flight rotation and allow for a more efficient event. Plus with your info on files you will be able to walk up to the food concession and scan your pilot or guest registration card for food, drinks, or services.

We have also arranged for a very heavy participation in turbines this year. This will include clinics on Turbine working, safety and usage.

For noontime entertainments we have scheduled a small hand full of the top prize winning super size scale jets in the world to be on display and pilots with manufactures to be present for clinics and Q&A sessions. This will be a display of not only helicopters but some fixed wing as well. Dual Turbine Super Giant 40 thousand dollar A-10 Wart Hog. Volkswagen size turbine Scale helicopters etc...

There will be several magazines covering the event again this year to cover all the display and action.

Yes, and as requested to the point of exhaustion the Red Bull girls have been invited back.

Todd and Jason are excited to follow up their July launch of the new Syn*gy with direct site clinics and trials of the new bird.

We will also have heavy emphasis on things to do for the Kids this year so everyone should come. The management of the kids corner has been fired so we will be controlling the over sight of the activities increasing the fun level by 10 and reducing the expense level of last year dramatically...

We have the DVD from the 6th Annual event still available if you haven't been to the event and would like to see in detail what to expect. (Flying, demos, full scale, food, clinics, the Hobby market place and events.)

If there are any questions, requests, and or participations of interest please contact me here or at LACLASSIC.ORG

More news
Looks like we will also be adding a weight lifting competition this year. The Competitors will lift a weight and move it 10 FT over a completion line. He with the most power wins. We will have a remote release that will be attached to the helicopter for safety so that in case the pilot does get into trouble we can instantly release the weight.

For more information on all the event competitions look at http://WWW.LACLASSIC.ORG we will be posting moving animations of the events.

Yes, the event should be blazing with turbines and games this year. Perhaps a few big heli's too?

For those intellectual types the LA Library will be open and with late hours during the event. If you would like more information on the Library or other attractions please inquiry with your event coordinator.
