not sure if and what they will be selling, they ran out of Magnum fuel, and now Skyline Models sell it.

I hope that they do start selling it again, it was a great price and i would be buying a lot more at the price they sold it for, shame that other companys sold it for a little less, then they would sell even more and the cost would come down for us.

it just shows how much money skyline is making on a bottle of fuel as glowfuels could undercut them by a considerable margin. not to mention if you ordered a few cases. you could get 20% fuel for £12 or less.

anyway, i wanted car fuel aswell and i don't think skyline bring that in.

Just to clear a point here Glowfuels.com used to be Magnum UK then they lost the importer deal!!!
The cheap Magnum you guys have been buying is the stock they have had left over and they were selling it at cheap money to try and hurt Skyline as they got the new importer deal from Magnum for the UK.
Skyline are not making loads of money on it they are just making a fair profit that’s business it was just sour grapes from the glowfuels guy to make skyline look bad.
I have no reason to defend Skyline but they have done me no wrong and they are a very helpful bunch of guys.
And yes they do stock all the Magnum range for heli car planks all of it

Depends what you consider "fair profit " as that term doesn't seem to go with (any) fuel prices in the UK.

A gallon of 12% magnum retails for $17 in the states (£10) so the Glowfuels.com price of £11.49 is probably a reasonable price considering import etc, but £13.75 from all other retail sources ??. If the trade price where say £8.50 ( I'm just guessing here ) then £13.75 represents a healthy mark up for the retailer ( 60% ) and I certainly don't consider that a "fair profit " more of a rip off

sorry, skyline will be making enough, they are not bringing in this fuel for our benefit. there is a market there and they (rightly) are supplying it. but they are not doing it to make a fair profit.

time to bring back rip off UK thread.

cheers

Bergen50UK,
Your missing something out of your equation, try this one:

$17 in the states = 9.63 GBP
Now add the import tax for fuel @ 5% which is 0.48 making 10.11
Now add the VAT @ 17.5% which makes it 11.88.

That makes it £1.88 profit out of £13.75 WITHOUT the carriage to the UK.

I would imagine sending hazardous goods internationally would take a fair chunk out of that £1.88 leaving the retailer with not as much profit as it seems.

There may be a few dollars saving by buying trade but i would imagine that the retailers don't see much of it, as with most things in this country it is the government that cause the prices to be high as they've got a £2.25 stake in every bottle of 12% magnum you buy.

Retailers in the UK are taxed to death, they have 2 choice, sell it at a price where they can make a small amount of money after the government has taken their share, or, not sell it at all.

PaulJC,

$17 in the states is the RETAIL price, the trade price to Skyline or Glowfuels. com will be less. Taking into account import duties, carriage and VAT Glowfuels.com sell the fuel at £11.49 and still make money, the other retailers sell it at £13.75 and make even more money.

That might just explain why glowfuels.com has got no fuel left.

Personaly i couldn't care less if skyline are making a few quid on a bottle, their a business trying to make money in the UK which is not easy at the best of times, their customer service is great, there delivery is next day and whenever i go to buy a case of fuel be it 20% or 30% they have it in stock.

Couldn't really ask for much more............

Not sure what the big issue is in this thread.
NewsFlash:::LHS making money (shock/horror)

We ALL have choices-if you think Skyline are charging too much for Magnum-go and buy it elsewhere
Failing that go buy some 'a.n.other' fuel and pay an extra £8.00GBP (US Gallon) for it

I did buy from Glowfuels and was happy with price and service. As their supplies of 30% have run dry my choices, for that particular fuel are limited.

Having said that, I have no issues paying Skylines' charges for Magnum as it still saves me money over other 30% brands available in the UK
