Actually, with a 1650maH AA pack, I find the Caliber5 to be just a hair nose heavy.
Mind you, I have no fuel in it, which may be aggravating the problem slightly.
It is just enough that a nickel on the horizontal stabilizer balances it out perfectly.
On my Caliber 50 3 Blade which used a 30 size boom, I had to add three peices of paddle weights to the vertical fin to balance it out.
The longer boom definitely addresses this.
But some of this is splitting hairs.
You don't need perfect balance to fly well.
I DO like to have it very close though

What servo setup are you using with the AA pack? I bought a 2700mah AA or AAA pack (maybe 2/3AA?) and while it had plenty of reserves, it couldn't handle the servo load too well. 4x9252 and 601/9251, it goes from full voltage to the first yellow light under load on a voltmeter when it's freshly charged. Not exactly the kind of confidence I was looking for. Sub-c pack certainly would work better, but I ended up getting lipos.

If I were building a Cal 5 I would use 3-94758's, the EMS setup, a 94451 on throttle and a 611/9256 gyro with a 2400mah Li-on battery and a suitable regulator for power. This should give you 4-5 comfortable flights between recharges.

Ok, my Caliber 5 is done.
My deadline for a flight by Midnight tonight was actually faulted By Saturday morning as my transmitter antenna was accidentally broken while fully extended.
I was able to set up the heli using the DSC function, and all is well!
I experienced no build problems, short of some junk in the Clutch shaft that needed to be cleaned out before installation.
I would have liked for the clutch bell to have a flange on it, as I have an original Correct 50 tooth gear that has no flange and the belt tries to ride off of it.
As far as Correct upgrades go, my recommendations go- in order of significance:
Swashplate
Fan
Washout
Tail Gear case

The Main gear is not applicable, unless you want to use the counter gear from the 30. Also, I do not know that the complete head will make a significant improvement over the new design.
And I would like to hear if anyone else tries the 50 tooth gear and does not get good results.

Pics are in my gallery.

EMS setup:

What I like for the EMS setup is the "floating" front elevator arm that will act as an additional anti-rotational bracket.
I want to try the 3 blade setup with MMS first with the 9250's, and then I'll try the EMS version.
I think the Caliber 5 servo system will be able to handle the 3 blade setup whereas the Caliber 30 setup would not.
This is a much better thought out design.

After spending about an hour with the transmitter and Heli on and off during setup, I flew four flights of about 15-16 minutes each (mostly hovering, so-so circuits and collective exercises ) and the 2s ReLion 2400 was showing 7.3 volts under a 1.5 amp load.

This is with 3-94758s, 94701 on throttle (only thing available when another servo crapped out) 401/9254 combo and Arizona regulator.

No Honey, thats always been on my Heli.
I'd list what I have but then she'd have proof!
