Wren of a Different Breed
I thought you turbine buffs would like a look at this, it is for a project I am doing with someone else. I will let you guys know how it comes along if interested. This thing is a work of art from the folks at Wren.

I don't think that one would go in it but the Bergen turbine would fit

What size blades are you swinging on that machine, also what mechanics are in it. It sure is a nice helicopter. Sure would be cool with turbine power.

810mm Each Blade, total of Five. They are not as wide as the ones that we use in regular Heli.
Vario made the Sikorsky S 58 in the 80's. For one reason or another they stopped making this fuselage.
Power plant is a Pico 60.
You know an antique. If this heli were a Car it will cost a lot of money. :-)

Richie: It will be nice if you find the link. I would like to see what he is using to power it. The Pico engine works but that was fine in the 80, that we had the 30s and 60s.

Well I have had alot of guys inquire what I'm doing with the turboprop, so here's the scoop. I am involved in a project with Jack at Duralite and Quique Somnenzini. Also let me not forget all the help from Sara and the folks at Wren. For you guys who fly both heli's and planes you will enjoy this. At present it looks like Jack will have more info shortly. The engine is now being installed and Quique is ready to go, I myself am looking forward to seeing him toss the plane around.

I will be most interested in seeing the outcome of your project, Gary...and, getting to see you fly it, first time out. Me, I would probably have to have someone "buddy-box" me on a fixed-wing turbo-prop. Those things are faster than greased lightning and, until my reaction time improved, I would certainly want somebody with some experience, like yourself, close at hand. Heck! Buddy-box cables are a dime a dozen and, for me, would just be good insurance...just would want to be real careful that I didn't interfere with the full-sized fixed-wing guys. Keep us posted on the progress. BTW, which fixed-wing airframe have you chosen for the install?

First time out it will be flown by Quique, The plane is a new design that he is going to release, my part in the project is to get it running correctly as Quique has not got turbine experience. I may not be able to afford my own for awhile due to my recent health problems. But I will get to fly one even if it's not mine. I am just humbled by the fact that I have been asked to do it. I am enjoying working on it, and even if I don't end up with one I get alot of pleasure out of making things work. If the guys here are interested I will get more info out when they make the decision to do so.
You are more than welcome to fly any of my other planes, buddy box or not. I told Chris to practice up on his Corsair so I can let him take a turbine fixed wing for a test drive.
