The dirby was great. He won and still had fuel in the main tank, he could have flown a few more minutes. Great job and good show.

I had too much going on yesterday so I couldn't make it.

If I were to head down there today would it be worth it?

I'm thinking that today will be limited as far as pilots and vendors are concerned. Maybe not worth the drive.

Is it worth it ?
I went yesterday, and what a turnout. It was the best funfly I've ever attended, period. I have to guess there were three hundred registered pilots, and the Derby, what a sight.

Don, I would go if I were you. We had six members of South Jersey Heli Flyers there, and we didn't know everyone was going. Our first field trip by accident.
Anyway, what an event, anyone that missed it, definitly go today or don't miss next year.

Tom

Awesome Funfly.

Many Thanks to Jerry, Dino, OC Bob, all the folks in Radio impound and at the grill.

The Funfly ran better than a Swiss watch. Radio impound was awesome and if you got a taste of that corn, well...

If you missed it, I hate to say it, but you missed a good one. Folks from all over came in and it was GREAT to say the least.

The Saturday derby with 11 or 12 pilots flying a figure 8 pattern between 20 and 50 feet to see who could last the longest... Some great mid air avoidance and LOTS of entertainment.

The youngest flier (yes he does FLY) that I have ever seen - 4 years old, ending the day with a few nose in auto's.

Some of the best pilots around, showing off the Aurora, the Synergy, the new MA Razor (electric and nitro), T-Rex 600, Lepton, and the list just keeps going.

Some Great vendors who donated lots of great prizes ( Thanks to Hatori USA for my SB-18! Now I have to buy something to put it on )

It was great seeing old friends and making a bunch of new ones! I finally got to meet a bunch of good folks that I've been chatting to all these years.

Big thanks to John Benario for spending some time showing me some cool features of the 14mz. Definitely better than the reading the manual!

A couple of really nice Scale helis along the flight line, no less than two ch-46's flying (one small mishap, but great none the less).

Some fortunes won and lost in Atlantic City (only 20 minutes from the field).

10 stations and more action than a one legged man in an Azz kicking contest. You just didn't know where to look as there were so many good pilots flying. And the action wasn't for the best, as we had a few beginners on the training sticks out there too.

Overall, there were very few mishaps on the flightline. A handful of crashes, but an extremely small percentage for the number of flights that went on through the day.

A big thanks to the Ladies that ran around selling raffle tickets, doing radio impound, managing registration and a thousand other little things that made the whole weekend run smoothly.

See you there next year!

Sounds like it was a blast!
I had to work fri/sat and sun....I wish I could have taken some days off, but not possible. I enjoy reading all the post, however, on the event! When I read about the derby, I could just picture all those helis up at once, leaving smoke trails all over the place...guys avoiding a midair...one by one, each heli is landing..low on fuel...cool etc...sounds fun! I've only been to two funfly's and had so much fun and learned a few things as well....that was Seaview Rotory Wings, in Brooklyn. Again, I'm delighted the weather was good for all of those who could make it to Atlantic City.

Cheers,

Michael

It was an awesome event!! I had alot of fun and managed to relax. Got some great help with my chopper from Dino, Jerry and Joe. I'll put all that info to good use in the future. Time to get ready for my next get together at Salem County's Annual Pig Roast on the 17th. Show some plankers how it's done....
