90SE main shaft stuck?
I discovered that the one way bearing on my main shaft, you know the one in the grey gear? Well it doesn't spin one way anymore. So I thought I'd take it out, clean it, regrease it, and hope that it works. THe problem is, I can't seem to get the main shaft out. I loosened the collar, took out the jesus bolt, and i can't pull it out.

HELP!!!

It could be the one-way bearing is jammed, you have to eather split the frames to remove it, or just break the shaft loose by turning it in the bearing. Very tough! spray some wd-40 as best ya can on the shaft above the bearing to help free it up.

The roller pins in the bearings are held in by a plastic cage, the cage tends to break down allowing the bearings to get angled causing them to lock the main shaft.

Most heli manufactures have switched to using a sprag bearing that doesn't have a plastic cage.
Which is worse, ignorance or apathy? I don't know and I don't care!

sometimes you might get to much locktight on the collar set screws and it locks the collar on the shaft. Just put it on the ground and stand on the skids and give an aggressive tug on the head / blade grips.

remove engine and fuel tank, take a 1/4" socket extension and a hammer, and slowly tap away from the bottom.Derek

The reason for the sleeve jamming on the main shaft is from over tightening of the lower jesus bolt. I done this on my first raptor 90 and had to raplace the main shaft cause it scarred it so bad. When you tighten the lower bolt only lightly snug it to the plastic red gear. As long as it is snug and the bolt threads are into the nylock part it will not come off.
Hope This Helps

got the shaft and one way out finnaly.

Yep, platic container broke, pin fell out in between the shaft and one way. scared up the mast pretty good.

just lubed it with tri flow 3 flights prior and now it siezed.
Was tri flow the mistake? I have to buy another one way, gonna use a thicker grease.

Al, Wierd though, also I ran the bolt pretty loose knowing about this fault and this happened. Is this a defect in the TT one way?
Or me just using the wrong lubircant?

any thoughts?

Tri-flow is a great lub.
Here's your answer. Manufacturing Defect.
The roller pins in the bearings are held in by a plastic cage, the cage tends to break down allowing the bearings to get angled causing them to lock the main shaft.

Most heli manufactures have switched to using a sprag bearing that doesn't have a plastic cage
.

The cage is made of a very cheap plastic, it just breaks down with use,
TT knows about it, but wouldn't sell as many parts if they came up with a better sprage bearing.

ic ic,

I just ordered the quick uk one. Is that one still made of a plastick retainer? Ihope this one will solve all my problems.
It better especially for the hefty price.

I also sent back the hub to ace hobbies for a replacement.

The wierd thing about the old one was that I just bought it 2 weeks ago. Only had at most 5 flights on it.

thanks
