New Video Experience - Need Help with Sound Issue
I'm having a little trouble with my new setup. I've got a new Panasonic GS-150 MiniDV camcorder with which I made a homemade video last night. Captured the video via Firewire and Windows moviemaker. Did some editing and then returned it back to the camcorder. The edited and unedited movie when played on the computer is like the old Godzilla movies.....lips move and then sound comes. LOL.. well maybe not that bad, but you know what I mean. (The sound lags) Now, when played on the TV, the unedited is perfect, but the edited portion is still off on the sound issue.

Any ideas as to what may be going on?

Thanks in advance for your expert advice,

Conrad

I'm no expert, but..if you have a video capture card on your computer such as TV card.. play your video on your video playback and then record your video while the video is playing.. Then save the file into mpeg file format (high quality also big file) . Play back in the raw format just to make sure it's ok. If everything is good then use the windows movie maker to edit and shrink your video file size. Hope this helps.Naomi

Yes, believe it or not,
Windows media capture program
works real nice.
I know how to use Adobe Premiere
and other editing programs
but now I don't bother to use those.
Haven't saved back to camcorder yet,
and don't need to because I just save the
footage to cd's to give copies.

System I'm using
no capture card....just windows movie maker, nero, and the software that came with the camera. I'll try doing it w/o my virus scanner running.
I've got Pentium 2.6g, 512ram DDR-2 3200, Nvidia 5700FX w/ 128megs.
I would think that this would do what needs to be done. Maybe I'm wrong??

Any other suggestions surely would be helpful! I know somebody else has to have run into this problem before??!!

Thanks in advance,
Conrad

I do use an old pinnacle capture card.
The new ones aren't really expensive, so that is somthing to consider.

Hi Naomi,

Downloaded new video w/o virus program on and all seems well. Just got to figure out how to burn to dvd. Just purchased Retail version of Nero 7 from internet...got it for US 56.00 which I thought was a good deal. I've burned about 30 disc from 8mm analog tape to a dvd recorder. Now I've just got to get those disc on computer and edit and reburn to dvd. Whew! That camcorder was bought in '92 and is shot. I was lucky to get it to play well enough to record to dvd recorder. Now for the dvd to mpeg conversion process. I think I have to convert it prior to editing it. As far as I can tell, the format that the DVD Recorder burns is mpeg-2? There are two folders:
Video RM and Video TS that are on the disc after it has been burned via DVD Recorder. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Conrod, If you have can get a copy of Ulead DVD factory 4.. That program is awesome , It will let you convert DVD format to Mpeg and back.. doing your scene selection etc.. It allows the capture from your video cam to DVD Factory , doing the editing and burn it back on the disc etc.

check it out..

Since you're using the Nero 7, it should have a capture option on there. The Mpeg mode from DVD is Mpeg4 format, Highest quality available. In DVD factory 4, when you're editing a DVD video from DVD disc, it creates a folder and it converts the DVD video from the disc to Mpeg format , allows you to edit your video.
As for the VideoTS folder is the actual video from the DVD disc.

Thanks for your help, Naomi.
I've got it going with Nero 7, Capturing from DVD, editing, and burning back so "any" player can play it.
