Cheers
Guy + Simpson! Yeah, sucks.....I didnt't strap my 611 down other than the double sided tape provided
My pirouetting tic-tocs are not that good yet , its hard to offtime the chaos - which I have been constantly practising. I would LOVE to be able to piro tic-toc as well as Duncan (but don't we all!) Its weird because everything has been going my way recently in flying - guess this had to happen to strike the balance!

Guy
and yes, my dad sometimes helps me out finacialy with helis !
Worked out that my crash cost is gonna be little under £300 ....guess it coulda been worse!

Hehe, Chris - I know the feeling!
Yesterday i got out, about 1 minute into my first fast circuit my 401 went nuts for no reason (or at lest i'm not sure yet) and what with my skil level i jst watched my 30 go from a nice bank into the ground from about 100ft *sighs*.
I suspect the battery as all my correction attempts went uneffective...
Heck even my fuel tank was thrown from the heli, one blade (razor 550) split open like a mouldy baugette lol.

I fear the helis almost a total loss asside from the engine and i prety the gyro (oh the irony).

I'm a little worried about taking the 50 out now lol.
Might just take the R30v1 out instead and prey that the 401 behaves...

I suspect it was a battery problem as i had a new battery on there that had only been cycled twice prior and my throttle hold didnt cut the engine to idle... Hmmmmm lol.

Well these things happen...
Damage total... To afraid to investigate

You know that lightning I was telling you about? We got hit at 3 am this morning. There was a big strike nearby and a huge crash of thunder. The earth leakage tripped and this morning I discovered our computer was dead - power supply and mother board are non responsive! So now the virtual helis are down Thank heavens for the notebook which is still running and has given us internet & heli sim while the mother ship is fixed. And it is still raining

robhurlin - bummer. Good job your laptop wasn't connected up.

Seems like there have been a few battered helis over the last 2 days. Webbhost even managed to break his in half. I told him to go easy

It's official! Our weather has gone nuts. Flash floods have been experienced in and near Johannesburg where 2 cars were washed away and 2 girls aged 9 & 10 drowned when they got washed off a bridge. A town in the Free State is cut off by flooded access roads. In other areas houses and roads are flooded. Over here it has continued raining off and on (more on) the whole week, seriously limiting me riding my bike to and from work (BMW F650GS). Heavy bummer.
The cheerful weather service predicts further heavy rains until next Tuesday. Flying this weekend may be seriously at risk.
How does your weather look for the weekend

Hi Rob - thats the funny thing, we have had hardly any rain for weeks, I expect the resevoir levels are quite low. Rain is forecast this weekend, but I doubt there will be anything much. It's just been cold and grey. A friend in Austria has been moaning that there has been heavy snow every day for a couple of months, dunno about other areas. Certainly, the weather patterns seem to have shifted over the last few years. It was forecast that we would have a severe winter this year. That's been a load of bollocks, it's just been cold.
The thing about the UK is Sod's Law - it tends to start raining just when you're about to go out flying or whatever - it is unpredictable throughout the day, probably cos we're an island. Since I started this thread, we haven't had too much rain. With the shifting weather patterns, it sounds like you're in the firing line at the moment as well as a few other places that are unused to such conditions.
Hope you got youre PC sorted out.

Yup, you guys definitely sent your rainy weather down here. It's rained off and on the whole day - mostly gentle rain with some thunder now and then but no downpours, at least not longer than 5 minutes or so. I rode the bike home in the soft rain but didn't get very wet. More localised floods and problems with roads and rivers bursting banks are being reported.

We bought a rubber ducky in '92 - maybe I should roll it out down the main road! We bought a Sea Doo jet ski in '99 - megga fun - if the water gets deep enough we'll roll it out as well

My computer has a new power supply, the mother board worked after the CPU was re-seated so the cost will not be very high. It is still at the repair shop while a DVD writer is put in and the fans are changed to make it quiter - we should get it back early next week.
I hope you guys have a great weekend flying - no prangs please

Rob.

Today was good. Went out for a lunchtime thrash (I mean practice ), about 2 deg C, no wind and bits of blue sky.
Yesterdays fly was WINDY. i was all over the place.
I can't understand why my heli hasn't exploded yet. I keep meaning to devise a load measuring device to fit on the links.

Shame you are so far away, as I have a spare servo frame you could have used
Go thrash the 50, you'll still have some good fun
