Damn, this one is a real pisser. If I can't get it sorted out I'm tempted to buy a CDE frame and switch all the SE stuff over just to see what happens.

I have had very much the same problem. I have an Align 25A ESC and an Align 430L motor with ALign 325 Pro blades.
1) Rerouted wiring and fitted a ferrite ring which did not solve the problem.
2) Checked the tail belt tightness and gear meshing but these were ok.
3) Tried 315 blades to reduce the current draw...still cutting out.
4) On the Optic Tx you can adjust the hovering pitch and RPM using two small levers on the sides of the Tx. These have quite a large effect on pitch and rpm. I dont have a RPM meter and I think that I was running at too low rpm. The esc and motor were getting very hot and I think this is why it was cutting out (perhaps termal cutout on the esc). I have reduced the pitch quite a lot so that it hovers at higher rpm and this seems to have reduced the problem.
5) I have just upgraded from the 25A to the 35A ESC for good measure.
Will post an update after a bit of flying.

Just got mine together and hovered it in the basement. ESC cuts out about 5 times per flight. Was only hovering it, and it happened in about one minute. After reading all the posts, looks like I'm in for a fun one!

I'm not 100% sure yet but I swithed to DX6 and have not had a motor cutout. Problem is I switched motors as well teporarily until my 430 pinned. I will let you know for sure after I get the motor back in. Right now going PCM or DX6 is the way to get around the motor cutout.

I also take back the align comment. It is a good heli after you fix a few issues but could be better out of the box. The 430L is a powerful motor. I am running AON now but can't wait to get my 430 back in.

If anyone local is running the SE and having motor cutout they are welcome to PM me. We can hook up and put my DX in your heli. If the cutout stops you know to go PCM of DX6.

Just purchased a Futabe 146 PCM receiver to see if it helped the motor cut-outs. Strangest thing - PCM receiver didn't work at all. I'musing Hitec 56 servos and a 401. Won't work on any one HS 56 servo. Servos just jump and move slow. Strangest thing - receiver works fine with other servos (full size Futaba, Hitec, JR). I have a friend who has the same problem with his Futaba PCM receiver. Anyone else have this problem?
Anyway, I decreased my pitch (to +9) and that helped the motor cut-outs (on FM).

I had three great flights on the SE today. No motor cuts at all. Guess what, my CDE cut out today. The SE seems to be feeling better, I think my CDE caught something. They were sitting right next to each other on the bench.

Fixed motor cut-out problem with a PCM receiver. Did not fix the weak T/R hub problem (blade pulled out). Caused bad crash - recommend upgrading to the new steel hub. Note, Andy at Align helped me out with replacement part - kudos to his customer support!
