walkera
I am a new Walkera dealer in georgia. I would like to start off by saying that I am sorry that some of you had bad experiances with the walkera product.
The term Ready To Fly is a bit misleading and I suspect this is the source of most of your problems. RTF for walkera means that everything needed is in the package. There is still alot of setup that needs to be done.

http://www.rc-airplane-world.com/wa...copter.html#box

Here is a good tutorial on setting up your Walkera helicopter. I suspect that after following this tutorial most of your troubles will be solved.
If you are in georgia or have a question that I can answer by e-mail feel free to contact me.

You know, I don't have a problem with walkera frames and mechanical setup, in fact its a pretty damn good design for the price. The only problem I had was electronics, what preflight will fix that? We shouldn't call it RTF any longer, it should be RTC.

You get what you pay for.

A decent Trex with hand picked electronics runs 5-600 dollars +

Think about it. A Futaba GY401 gyro alone costs as much as a Walkera heli.

Walkera
Walkera models are ok. Walkera electronics are worthless for helicopters. I know they're cheap but by the time you buy electronics that will get it in the air (reliably) it will cost you no more to just start off with a better helicopter. I also have a Trex that I am able to fly smoothly and reliably. It costs an equal amount of money to get my Trex in the air several times successfully than it did to crash my Walkera. The receiver glitched or something like that (the remote stopped communicating with the receiver). If you can get this to not happen to you, the gyro will not keep your tail straight no matter how well you tune it.

I agree with boing and pro; the electronics suck horribly but the helis themselves aren't all that bad. Mine flew pretty well once I got rid of the gyro and replaced the radio system.-fox

Walkera as a company, do not actually produce these heli's or the electronics.
They contract all that out to a chinese toy company (forget the name), then slap on their name, and sell them.
Walkera forum makes for an interesting read in that department.
For the love of the hobby

For the Wakera fans
I have some older rich friends who own the t-rex's with 960.00 invested and the belt cp's with 650 invested. mostly they have the nitro heli's the 30 through 9o's. The three of them probably got aound 25,000 dollars invested in flying these awsome flying machines. After I brought my walkera 39 to the flying feild and each of them saw it and have placed their orders because my RTF out of the box is as impressive as any of their 6-900 dollar heli's. Look again, the 39 is a BEAST! If you fly! U will crash!!

I too bought a 22a (long time ago) I changed out all the electronics and added a brushless motor and speed control. I had it flying really good. Then oneday I went to order parts and they changed a bunch of stuff. 2 months later the e cameout.

As of now its a wall decoration.

Something kinda scary, I was looking at the venom night ranger 3dxl and the stock number stickers are pretty close to the walkera. All the componets look identical to the walkera too. Stay away!!! Spend the little extra and buy a raptor.

What are the thoughts about Walkera's newest helis? I have heard all of the bashing, but I recently bought a 5#6 and I must say that it is one of the funnest helis I have ever flown, and the most durable. I also have flown the new 53#1 and it is a blast to fly. I have a T-Rex with a Medusa and a bit of CF and aluminum so I know what it is like to fly a "real" heli, but there is something way fun about these new Walkeras. So far, I have only heard and experienced good things about their newest models.

Help!
Finally I have found a thread that is fresh.
I am a newbie and I need some info....I bought a used walkera 35 z400
just to learn on....I also have a shogun.
My problem is that when I throttle up about half way the rx shuts completely off on the 35....just as the skids are getting light.
I have reset everything, checked tracking of rotors, made sure all the servos were set at 90 degrees, set pitch on the rotors.
I did a voltage drop test on the li-po battery and when the rx cut off the battery still had almost 11 volts...I switched motors and installed a 400 series....I did everything by the book as suggested by everyone in the forums, so I have come to the conclusion that the esc in the receiver is shot.
My question is, if i install a brushless motor and matching esc, will it bypass the stuff in the receiver...everything else works ok in the receiver.
Or can anyone suggest a replacement receiver that will work...my receiver is the rx-602.....or does anyone in here have a 602 laying around that they want to part with fairly cheap as the 35 is just to learn on cause I know I'm gonna crash...lol
Any help anyone can give me will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I bought a used walkera 52 from a member here with the brushless set up already all I did is just changed the esc and went one more tooth on the pinion and it flys great I have done loops, rolls, backflips, stall turns and even some inverted although not more than 10 sec at a time still need more practice. Even thought it is not a beginner heli with brushless setup and wooden blades this thing is a blast. Not all walkeras are bad.

Hi Diesel....thanks for the info.
I watched the video, It's going to take me quite a while to fly like that.....did the cameraman get dizzy....lol
Anyway I just bought a tx,rx and servos for my 35...once i get the hang of hovering and other simple things then I'll probably go to brushless...I did install a 400 motor so it should at least come up off the ground....(fingers are crossed I don't crash and burn first time out)

Just got the 22E from under the dust covers and need a battery for it but it seems to have all disappeared. I did charge the battery pack now and then but where can I get one from? Why simplify when it's simpler to complicate.
