Continuation re-modeling the Martin sollner CRAP fuselage
I have been working on a lot of other projects and doing odd bits to the Martin Sollner crap fuselage I had originally made a plug for the cargo doors out of plastic with vinyl window surrounds and rivets but was not happy with the definition, with the help of the HobbyParts workshop I now have the plug done in painted alluminium with alluminium window surrounds and plastic rivets, all waxed ready to apply Gelcoat and then lay up for the mould

Peter have you installed the tail drive unit yet? if so what have yu done to get the 90 degree unit to line up in the rear? I took a break from building the fuse and i am now getting back to it.

Tail drive for the Martin Sollner CRAP fuselage
Alan Like you I have not done much more to the fuselage except to have another aluminium plug made this will give me the options of having no rivits stand off scale rivits or exact scale rivit details on the cargo doors,
To your question my idea is to have the top of the tail section hinged as the full size and install an open drive system, the 50 degree Vario gearbox at the bottom of the tail and the Vario 90 degree box at the top of the tail, the drive tube can be either 6mm or 8mm, laying out all the component parts on the tail section we believe this will work fine, a lot of extra work though, simplicity would be to install a 1/4inch flexidrive system, hope this helps keep posting on your project
