our experience is that the head is really non adequate to 3d flight
try tic toc and you will understand
some harder damper would help
the best is to add a mc 50 head
and you will get a very good heli

I agree with Thierry on the tic-tocs. However, I don't have any 3D flight experience with a 50 machine other than a Venture 50 to compare. Power to weight ratio is a big factor and my Venture 50 is not light but it has great power. It's at least 7.5 lbs and probably approaching 8 lbs. A combination of low weight and taking as much damping out of the head as possible is a necessity if one wants an agile 3D machine. I'm not sure which dampers the AS50 includes but based on my experience with the my head on my Venture 50, which is almost identical to the AS50, the dampers need to be stiff for 3D. I use the red hex KSJ dampers and I have heard of JR team pilots using two hard 90 durometer orings from the Vibe/CS on each side cut to fit. My modified Venture 50 is not perfect for 3D but it does a good job while requiring the pilot to focus on good cyclic/collective management skills. I would venture to guess that the AS50 is very close as well.

guys,,, the Raptor hard dampeners (red) can be cut down on a lathe, all that is need to do is to turn down a piece of aluminum or brass to 6mm, leave an edge on the back so when the dampener is pushed on it will have something to butt-up against, then use a sharp cutter and the dampener will cut like butter, believe me I have done it myself..

note, the Raptor blue dampeners do not cut well, but the red ones will cut quite good, you need to use a sharp cutter !!
