Hi Pistol,

No, sorry, you obviously haven't flown a Logo 14 Carbon..smooth as silk, so easy to fly well..

He didn't answer, so I will if I may..

Just flying fast forward with relatively sharp turns - 270 mah/minute.

Flying that way but adding one aerobatic maneuver per pass (loop, stall turn, roll, figure eight, multiple flips) - 400 mah/minute.

Hard 3-D - 500-600 mah/minute.

Pistol_Pete you can not even compare a Swift to the L14. As mentioned you must not have ever flown or seen a L14. I can assure you the Swift is not a direct comparison, not one bit....Once upon a time there were Nitros, flybars and frequency pins...

I flew a timed 10 minute flight which consisted of hovering and fast forward flight. No aerobatics.

I just put 2300mAh back into the battery which is close to oldboldpilots measured figure of 270mAh per minute.

I was not comparing
Given I have not flown many others out there, I was merely giving an alternative for substancially much less money. The cost of replacements parts should be considered as well.

My set up was less than one grand including a charger, given that I went with the high performance package and to date I'm still a happy camper...errr...flyer.

I'm not into debating as it's easier to make enemies than friends. Just sharing my opinion as everyone else. And we know about opinions...they are like hookers...there is one in every corner and they're all cheap...or...you get what you pay for...or...take it for whats if worth.

My approach was in the sense of like sports car...why purchase a porsche when a corvette will do.

In retrospect...Have any of you guys flown the swift?

Allright well fair enough, but for me and others a corvette simply will not do, that is why we bought Mikado. LOL, but yes you and all of us are entitled to opinions. And yes check gallery, flown swift, seen many fly, etc........Once upon a time there were Nitros, flybars and frequency pins...

I can only post my opinion as well but as soon as the rumored Logo price drops occur it's "buh-bye Swift".

You mean the 4200s'. They are fine, be prepared to run them on their side and to have some velcro on back to secure them in as they are a much different size and shape then the 4000 long pack. A little bit of extra jam, I wouldn't scream that it is a huge difference though. All imho of course....Once upon a time there were Nitros, flybars and frequency pins...

cebc7, The 4200 TP pack is 5% more capacity than their 4000, but 25% more $$. If one who flies hard 3D with the 4000 pack gets 7 minutes, expect 7.35 minutes with the bigger pack. Well, that might be important..

Or fly the same 7 minutes, but enjoy a 5% boost on pack voltage under load, which might actually be more important in terms of pack life.

A very nice advantage of the Logo 14 carbon is the low weight. Mine with a BEC is 6 lb 4 oz, and with a 1400 mah RCVR NiCAD pack, expect 6 lb 8 oz. Comapre with a Raptor 50 electric conversion at over a pound more..

So I believe this translates into a bit more per-flight endurance, or a bit more battery life, your choice.

My strategy is to have three 4000 mah packs. I believe I can fly my Logo 14 carbon with 20 minute breaks in between flights "all day."

If not, a 4th pack will make it so - and then I can get a 90 size electric, which will use two of those packs per flight..

And then just two more packs will allow me to fly the 90 sized continuously - if I buy another charger, ha, haa, haaaaaaa, and if I was right about continuous flying with three packs and
Logo 14 carbon, ha, haa, haaaaa

For all the reasons bold mentioned is why I got 3 packs. Basically anyways, lol....or at least it makes me feel batter to say so since it cost 1300 for the 3 I got ,,, ouch!...Once upon a time there were Nitros, flybars and frequency pins...

lots of good advice here. I too am just delving into RC Helis. More as an extension of my photography business. I'm taking this one step at a time while being very safey minded. I need some clarification on these Logo's with respect to payload capacity and ease of straight and level flight in low winds. While I learn the sim (actually hasn't arrived yet) this will give me time to suss out the differences of RC Heli's. It appears Logo's are a popular choice but heard Raptors and Jokers are as well.
I need a heli that will support a DSLR (3-4 lbs) w/ mounting bracket. I don't want to start with a trainer then work into a final unit. I want to start with the final unit and learn to fly it. Not into 3D flight, tricks, or other fancy flying - all I want to do is mount a camera and learn basic flight.
I've heard bigger is better (for wind and payload) so with that is the Logo 24 the best choice?
Also how available are parts?
I have an empty credit card so lets not worry much on money (within reason :-)
Your advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Bill
