Any thoughts on the Esky Honeybee King or Cool? I've just been looking onto these as an upgrade to the CP2 and so far am pretty impressed but know nobody who actually flies them. The only thing necessary for Evil to succeed is for good men to do nothing.

I have a honey bee king and a CP2. Its leaps and bounds better than the CP2. Im not sure its the best but its really damn good for the money. If you can find a good source for parts it really is a good value, especially for beginners that are intimidated by the price of outfitting a Trex.

thanks for the info I think I'm mostly wanting to get into a shaft or belt driven tail because this damned motor driven tail is crazy when the batt gets low. Although it is a good signifier when its time to land and recharge. The only thing necessary for Evil to succeed is for good men to do nothing.

Here in the UK the Esky Cool in called the Twister 3D
I got one in December and it's a Brilliant little heli for the money!!!
I too have a CP and you can't compare the two as the 3D /Cool is a larger heli, the size of a Zoom.
the shaft driven tail seems to work well, I don't have any issues
with it FullStop

just bought one 3 months ago, So much class. I like the way it looks with its low center of gravity and agressive poised stance, I like the way its built and what its built from, I like the weight and the size, not big but definately not small, rotor dia. of almost a whole meter. I like the way it sounds, its surprisingly quiet but so powerful and balanced with good proportion throughout. and most importantly It flies so well. It floats like a butterfly stings like a bee. 8 in Japanese translates to Bee. It really is a dream machine. not the most popular or supported but still gets my vote for best micro.

heres my favorite image of the QJ8. The canopy has been painted to change the appearance of the cockpit

This thread is supposed to be the "best micro" but just for your sake Ill share what I know about your inquiry,
Bru speaks the truth, if you buy a King or a cool, you wont be dissapointed. these two helis are the Honda Civics of RC heils. Not the best, not exotic, but cheap with big performance, which makes it more desirable to most people. Absolutely worth the money

are there any micros with a direct drive tail? the motor drive is fine but inconvenient having to adjust the rudder trim for every small drop in voltage. its easier to actually compensate for it without touching the trim knob. I'm not exactly sure if the motor drive is what makes a micro but it really is a pain in the butt. The only thing necessary for Evil to succeed is for good men to do nothing.

Ok, at the price for the King you can get the Hummingbird 3dpro with a brushless motor in kit form.

In tail driven small birds the above mentioned and also Maxir and Hornet. But if starting out in this direction? (trying to stay away from the tail motor)

Sounds like the HB3d is smallest with the likes of the Blade cp,Honey bee cp2, and Hornet about similer in size and then the King and Maxir largest of the bunch but only slightly so which could make them more stable?

Which way to go?

It's trying to stay within that price point set by the likes of the blade cp, and be able to use your own radio. Hearing the comments alone on the small wind when trying to land may push in that just slightly larger direction of the King. If you have your own radio should be able to keep it close to the pricepoint with similer quality electronics of Blade. I understand electronics can make quite a difference. The Maxir movies ==== mmmmm

impressive. it seems so light & agile on its feet. i seriously wish i knew someone who had a maxir locally so i could check one out lol.

i think it would be more difficult to do that with a trex as its so powerful, itll disturb all the air in the room. the maxir is still close to the trex in size though.
