Any of the UK people on here ever flown in Richmond Park, in Surrey, England?

Having some problems finding a club near me with any spaces for new members, and someone told me that they have seen people flying helis in Richmond Park. None of the BMFA clubs seem to be anywhere near there so wondered if this was an informal thing? I have been around it several time looking for flyers, but no luck.

Any experience, please let me know - Thanks!

You could contact the "Southern Cross" fliers... I believe that they fly just outside of Pirbrite on public/MOD ground.

PM me if you are interested as somewhere I have the contact details of someone that flies there...

Heli Clubs West London
I used to be a member of slough RCM club when I lived in the area, only 20-30min from richmond

They have a good mix of heli's and planks, and had set flying area's for heli's, also a BMFA registered club.

If your just starting out I would give Dave at FlyinFish at Northolt a ring about lessons, I've saved lots of money by having some profesional setup advice and lessons, I've been flying 18months - No Crashes

hope this helps, I've been looking for a club in West London for a while myself and know how difficult it is..

We Have a few places at our club in Farnborough/Aldershot, Have members who travel quite a long way to us as well...

I think you'll find that flying in Richmond park will be frowned upon as it is a royal park, and you are not even allowed to a radio on in the park, I'd read the big load of rules posted in the entrance

Oh, just thought there is Hanworth airpark, they do allow helis but it is a Plank club and has loads of restrictions( dont really like Helis there )

or you can fly at wormwood scrubs, behind the hospital, right at the back of the park, not a problem flying there as its common land

Let me know if you want to come to Farnborough....

Ahh Richmond Park, fond memories of running away from the park keepers as a youngster
