Since everyone else is posting their crashes and near misses... I had a bad crash while taking pictures of a church yesterday. Fortunately I was using the T-Rex, unfortunately it had my only camera on it. I had been doing all my flying in normal mode but yesterday decided to start using flight mode 1 because sometimes it's hard to get down in the wind. When I was coming back to me into the wind it kept pitching up, more than normal. Then it just quit making any progress and just started doing whatever it wanted, then the tail let go and it started spinning. At that point I had no control over it so I hit the throttle hold and it came straight down. I tried to auto but a trex carrying an S70 has no hope. Totally TRASHED the Canon S70 since it was the first thing to hit. I mean it's not the same shape that it was and the lens popped out. The thing that scared me was although I was flying from a big empty parking lot with three cars in it and no one around, it came down about 10 feet from this chick's 4-Runner. It really made me reconsider where I fly and things I'll shoot in the future. I'm also done with the T-Rex, it works but it's too much trouble to have to modify it so much and there is no room for error when flying it.

Has anyone else trashed a camera in a crash? I should have bought the Wolf warranty on the camera but since I didn't I'll probably put it on ebay with the batteries and 1gb card.

To top it off, about 30 seconds after I got to the helicopter and was inspecting it and waiting to see if the lipo was going to erupt, the girl that owned the 4-runner came out to leave. She was really cute and I was there wearing a fanny pack with the downlink receiver, centra eyetop video glasses and looking at my destroyed toy helicopter.

So she thought to herself "If I were into geeks, this one would be a definate maybe".

Sorry about your accident. Too bad about the little sweety as well. This hobby doesn't scream "Chick Magnet".
