Futaba 9C Synthesized Module Failed In Flight
I have a Futaba 9CHP and a Futaba Synthesized module. I was flying my newly repaired Hummingbird Elite 3D Pro and was just starting to trust it when all the sudden I lost everything and it went in. I first blamed the helicopter. After trying to get a response out of a receiver in another aircraft I found my transmitter is not working. I have tried a different module and it works fine with the radio. So my TP-FSM module has bit the dirt in flight as well as my poor helicopter.

My module was bought in March of this year, so it is still under warranty. I was curious to find out if anyone else has had one of these fail.

Sorry to hear that. I have used a Hitec synthesized module many times even in my Futaba tx and never had any problems.

I didn't realize the Hitec Synthesized module is compatible with a Futaba. Good to know.

Well, it works, but it's not condoned by Futaba nor Hitec. I've seen many folks use it and it seems to work fine. Use it and if you have good luck with it then you're golden. However, if it or your radio craps out on you, you're SOL!!!

Besides, seeing you're in Roswell, NM I'm sure it was just an alien spacecraft that shot your heli down!!!

crussell and I fly at the same field and I witnessed his heli go in and in fact helped him trouble shoot it. There were some "aliens" close by, but most of them were just the illegal kind. It's been a while since we had any extraterrestrials out at the field. Really cool when they do show up, ...their helis,... if you can call them that,... don't have any moving parts, but seem to fly well. 3D for them is litterally effortless, practically hands off. Makes the rest of us feel inferior. You have to be carefull leaving your stuff laying around,... they seem to like carbon fiber for snacks. Craig lost a complete set of blades one morning before we caught on to this. All that was left were the brass bolt shims and part of the weights. Yep, living with aliens around is a real problem sometimes.

This isn't a matter of a glitch. This is a matter of the module quit working. It still does not transmit. The module is on its way to Hobby Services for warranty repair. It isn't intermittent, it completely quit working. A cell phone might cause a glitch, but I can't see it frying the module.

Yes, we are aware of the c-phone prob. as I fly a 9Z / synt. and have been "hit" as my phone rang. I now leave it on but in the trailer. My gasser was on its own for a while, not a good feeling.

You are right in your statement, I think Craig just wanted some feedback as to whether his was just an exception. I have flown Futaba exclusively for many years and have only had a couple of servo failures, and one early RP129DP receiver getting hit by an assumed cell phone problem. Futaba will replace these for free, which I have taken advantage of on all my non "B" suffix chip receivers.
