I am trying to decide between 2 packs or 1 for my eRaptor. I had 2 5s2p packs and one of them got destroyed by a shorted connector on my esc. The other pack is an older TP pack that is not up to having a new mate.

Here's what I'm thinking, would appreciate input from more experienced folks:

1x10s Pros:
No worries about finding replacement 'mates'
Pack fits into frame rather than stuck on the sides
1 pack is cheaper than 2 of same total cap
Only one pack to charge per flight

1x10s Cons:
The pack sticks out the front exposing it to damage
If the pack is damaged, the loss is total rather than half

2x5s Pros:
The packs are up on the frame and don't stick out as far
A crash may only take out 1 pack
Choices besides TP like the new EVO 20C

2x5s Cons:
The cost is higher
It may be impossible to find a replacement mate
Even if a mate can be found, a new pack and an old one may not 'get along'
Charging takes longer with one charger (I plan to address this one either way)

I'm going to invest in 3 'packs', but probably not all at once, which makes me lean toward 1x10s. But the current 10s packs are 10-12C while the 5s packs are coming out in 20C.

I'm not in a hurry so I can wait a few months for some of the new packs to be proven and newer packs to come out. Hopefully the prices will come down and the capacities will go up. But the basic form is still in question.

Any thoughts?

The Flight Power pack looks pretty good but it is thicker than TP by 7mm. I have to measure the clearance in the frame. The price is right though. I heard that Duralite will carry these in the states but if their 10C packs are any indication, the markup will be ridiculus. If I get them, I'll just order from the UK. Even with shipping etc, they will probably be cheaper.

vaportrail.

I'd also consider getting the new TP210 balancer when it's released.

You'll be able to connect 2 x 5S TP packs into it and balance both packs as a 10S set.
