Caliber 30 + OS32 Tuning Help
HI,
I went out this morning with my Caliber30 and I have some tuning questons:
I have an OS32 with a Mavrikk Patriot 550 Carbons. Hoving fine. On climb outs, it seem ok, engine seems to be bogging, not reaching its full speed (lots of smoke though). I tried to lean out the needle by 3 clicks, and engine would quit almost immediately when I go full throttle. I opened up the needle 2 clicks from original setting, engine still doesn't seems to topping out at full throttle (but still lots of smoke). I lowered the pitch a few percent on the top end and it seems to run better (I was running -5, 5, 9 for my idle up 1). Do I have a engine tuning problem or the 550 blades are just too much for the engine?
I was lucky when I tried a standing loop and on the bottom of the loop, the engine did not have enough power to climb out and the heli just went slowly down the gound..... hew...
Thanks,
Tony

550's aren't too much, I think its either a tuning problem or a slipping one way bearing.Edge rotorblades, Scorpion systems

it is doubtful that your engine cant handle the blades. It should be fine. If the engine is new, it is just breaking in, and completely normal. Just keep it rich, then lean it slowly. If it is broken in, check your throttle curve. It may need to be set a little higher. Also, make sure at full left stick gives you full throttle. Just a couple ideas.

I bought the heli used...
But the original owner said the engine had 3/4 gallons through it, and I've put in another few tanks (1/4 gallons).
Thanks,
Tony.

Thats a tough one. You'll have to remove the gear with the oneway bearing in it. If the axle is colored its probably slipping.

If you hear your engine bogging it isn't the oneway bearing but your tuning. If the engine keeps purring fine but your still descending its your oneway bearing.

The solution is to either replace the axle or replace the bearing. Also let an expert do the tuning of the engine for you.
