Canopy mounting
On my Gasser(1005) The canopy wont mount properly, I put it on, screw in the side mounts, and then it wont press into the upper grommet, if I push it in, it just pops back out, when I push it in the upper mount you can see the sides of the canopy bow outwards, the canopy doesnt look warped. It also hits the swash to upper mixer pushrods??? Why is this??

Thanks

wedge what canopy do you have ? is it the stock one that came with it or an aftermarket. also check to see it your all your post are mounted correctly for height and location. I am assuming this is a new kit and the first time that you are mounting the canopy. My guess is that either the top post is low or the side post are not it there proper location. Tom

Canopy on gasser
Hi Wedge,

I had the same on mine. I drilled a small hole (2mm wide) above the part that pops through the canopy and now attach it with some paper clip. It doesn't move anymore.

Thanks for the tip, I checked the mounting locations and they seem to be right, I don't see how you could put them in the wrong spot, doesn't look as if there is any other place to put them.Victoria BC, Canada, Century Swift,Trex SA 450, Hummingbird V3.

The other possiability is that the canopy is a pro canopy instead of a sport canopy ( which is the stock canopy) . The pro canopy is slightly taller and narrower but other then that they look the same. I did this once trying to save acouple of dollars ( about 3) and ended up with simular mounting problems. Tom

Hmmmmm................
On some of the original X-Cells, the top standoff was mounted to a separate piece that was slotted so you could move it up or down. I think the old gassers were this way. Make sure the top mount is not bent and see if it is a separate slotted piece and if so, move it up.

The stacked frame gas models never used that slotted piece. They just have a ninety degree bend in the top of the front plate where you mount the top canopy stud.

The only way i know to tell the difference is to have them side by side. The main thing here is that your canopy is mounted as to not let it fall off the top stud in flight (been there done that ) . I think you just have to do what is needed to insure the top post is where it needs to be to fit the canopy and that nothing else is causing interferance. Tom
