Best all around charger
I am looking for a good all around charger.
-it was to use wall power (AC)
-it has to do nicd, nimh, and lipo
with that said, i am kind of on a budget. i want to know what you guys think and what your experiences are. Thanks

The best all around chargers IMO need a power supply , as in will not
work with house a/c.

I think the Traxxas ICE and Triton work the best all around. I use the ICE for all my birds and tx's.

Both will run off the starter battery you should allready have.

I would avoid the hobbico line as both I had failed.

if you get a 10amp switching 12volt supply unit, most field chargers will plug into this in your home.i use a constellation charger at home AND at the field.the only drawback is the supply unit is about£40($60appx)then the charger is £80($120)you would need a dc supply at the field too(battery normally suffices)

if you have used a dynamite vision peak ultra and it seems to work well then i would go for that just because you want AC. if you graduate to 4s lipos you'll have the money to go for the ICE.

I use a Pro-Peak Prodigy, it does everything I need, NiCad, NiMH, Li-Ion, Lipo and Pb. Charging is usually done at home (not enough time at the field) so I use a 12v mains switching supply.
However, I'll be building an electric heli next year (600e) so I will probably need a higher spec charger for the 10s2p cells.

Hobbico Accu-Cycle Elite does all of what you require and has the ability to charge two batteries at once even if they are different types.. like, charging your Tx and Rx battery at the same time.

You can get it from TowerHobbies.com and they typically have discounts going that you can apply to it. Hobbico has been around a long time, product support is good and damn near every LHS in the country carries their products (Great Planes).

I personally use a Sirius Pro since I only have to charge my Tx and Rx batteries, and for my power panel battery I use a car-battery charger.

Ice! The Triton likes to false trigger on NiMH batteries packs.

The Triton likes to false trigger on NiMH batteries packs.
True, but I have eliminated this by using short charge leads and connecting directly to the battery (as opposed as going through the charge jack/switch wires)

You can set the sensitivity of the voltage peek on the trition to what ever you want.. I have never had any problems with NIMH..

I did have the Triton and it was a great all around charger. Even would charge my gel cell battery for my power panel... BUT, what I didn't like about it was that it only charges ONE battery at a time.

So, I got the Sirius Pro, offloaded the Triton. If and when I ever goto Li-Ion or Li-po's, I'll get the Accu-Cycle Elite or whatever superceeds it.

Also has the ability to catch fire and put 110v on your fingers (the original version did this). Low quality junk.

And don't you have a battery for starting your heli ? Any 12V 7ah battery will run the Ice or Triton and they don't cost that much, or heck
your car battery will work for that matter just as well.

I have just got the pro peak prodigy and it is a awsum charger for the money. It cycles your batterys Nicd and Nmhi it charges liIo and lead acids. For the money I am well pleased.

you wont be disapointed but be sure it is capable of charging the battery packs you are useing. If it is then all good.
I used my 12v 7amp.hr battery to charge my batteries and it has done plenty to see me having a good time tomorrow. I am one pleased cooky

Jollsnj, It all depends on what type of Batteries, How manty Volts and How many amps you push.

I have 2 7ah 12v batteries wired in paralel for 14ah and i can charge my 2400mah rx pack 20+ times on it..

I have not tryed to charge a TP 3s 2100 Lipo on it yet, im wondering how many i will get.. I would think about 5-6 maybe.
