Hyper 50 carb vs OS 61 3 needle carb
I was just readding that some folks are using the 3 needle carb for the OS61 engine in a 50 size instead of the hyper carb.

Does this make any difference
Is it better or easier to carburate
Has any one who used it gone back to the regular Hyper carb

I know it looks different from stock... but... does it make sence

Bato,

60B out of the box is better than the 60L carb.

The 60B carb performs great on the Hyper. It will need to be modified...the plastic insolator has to be removed and you need to mill it down a bit to fit the 50. You'll also need to grind the frame a bit to clear the extra needle.

Once you do this, you'll have a carb that'll allow you to dial-in the mid range which allows you squeeze out a bit more power.

It's too hard for sandpaper. You'll need to file it or you can use a grinder. Some times you can find one already converted...put WTB post in the classifieds.

I had herd so much on here about putting the OS 90 shx carb the 60L on a os 50 so i decided to give it a try today as i had the 60 l from and trashed 90 in the tool box. Stuck it in and did not expect much but it idles so much smoother and it has more power, one thing i noticed was that the heli just seems to bit that bit more snappy on the collective. Also the transition from idle to idle up are much smoother, i'm glad i tried it out now.

It definitely worth considering this mod.

I put a 60L from a 90 on my 50. It was longer than the 40E so the o-ring did not seal. I am guessing that is what pcliftonjr is talking about. I figured the bottom seal to the case should be straight so I just put a larger o-ring on. The o-ring seals and the carb seals to the washer.
